5 Fall Beauty Trends You Need to Try

I'm reporting to you live from the quickest weekend ever. I bought Charlie's costume for Halloween (if you follow me on Snapchat at ellesees, you got a sneak peek). I attended a very late dinner for a friend's birthday, hit up Target for some fall decorations (never enough) and Adam Lippes flats, and was a guest of the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra. And I also did boring things, like get my recycling ready and break down the boxes I get daily--being a beauty blogger is the best, y'all.

Speaking of beauty, I wanted to share 5 of the hottest beauty trends for this season. Taken from the runway, I've got something for all budgets. Let me know your faves in the comments.

My Everyday Makeup Routine

In case you missed this post, I asked for blog feedback, and a couple of you wanted more makeup tutorials--you got it! This is my everyday makeup routine.  I shared this as a guest post last month, but thought you would like seeing it. This is great for daytime looks, natural looking-makeup, and beginners. Plus, I've got something for all budgets.

First, I prime and prep my skin with the Smashbox Pore Minimizer Primer. I like this one because it helps hide pores. Next I apply foundation--my skin is on the drier side--so I love the glow this Giorgio Armani Silk Foundation gives me. Then it's time for concealing my dark circles, and I suggest Bobbi Brown. It's a great corrector and comes in many shades.

Drugstore Options:

  • NYX Pore Filler
  • Covergirl Stay Luminous Foundation
  • Wet N Wild Fergie Come Correct Concealer

For an everyday look, I keep the eye shadow to a minimum. I love this Too Faced Natural Matte Palette because it offers so many looks. I pat the lightest shade (Silk Teddy) on the lid. Then, I sweep some of the shade Strapless into the crease and blend. I smudge a little of the shade Risque under the lower lash line.

Drugstore Options:

  • Sonia Kashuk Eye on Neutral Matte Palette (this one is pricey for drugstore, but I don't own many drugstore matte palettes I like. I would also suggest L'Oreal Nude Palettes)

I then curl lashes, add a Lancome mascara and a Sonia Kashuk liner to my upper lashes. My brows are naturally full so I use Loreal Stylist Brow Plumper to put them in place. I add a little Becca highlighter, a sweep of MAC peach blush, and a peachy gloss from Japonesque.

Drugstore Options:

  • L'Oreal Miss Manga mascara
  • Jordana liner (Sonia Kashuk is at Target and still considered drugstore)
  • Wet N Wild Reserve Your Cabana Highlighter
  • Jordana Blush Peach Blossom
  • NYG Gloss in Napoleon

And if you want to see this effortless look in action from start to finish, then check out my video below:

What's your everyday makeup routine?

Extra Elle:
  • This is my third year of getting invited to NYFW and not going. I like watching the streams of them online instead. Maybe next year! #introvertsuniteseparately
  • After seeing it everyone's blog, I decided to get The Royal We, after Kate said it was $3.99 on Kindle. It was a quick, lovely read!
  • Charlie and I had an al fresco dinner at an Italian restaurant near my house yesterday. He is a "people person", er, dog, and I'm very quiet. I swear he gets recognized everywhere we go.

Cover Look For Less: Katie Holmes for Glamour Magazine

This and edited pic below via Glamour.com

And so I wrap up my July series, Cover Look for Less, with the beautiful Katie Holmes for Glamour Magazine (August). Be sure to check out the other looks here. As always, I use cover looks that are easy to recreate and are budget-friendly. Enjoy.

I used images from inside the magazine as my inspiration for this look.

1.--I used the Covergirl eyeshadow Quad in Natural Nudes.  I smudged the lightest shimmery shade into the inner corners of the eyes and brought down about halfway under the bottom lash line. I added the last shade in the quad on the lid, and added the darkest shade into the outer corner of the eye (like a sideways V) and blended it out and under the bottom lash line.

2.--For mascara, I used the Maybelline Pumped Up Colossal. I have a tutorial coming tomorrow with this! Curl lashes and apply a coat of mascara on top and bottom lashes.

3.--Katie has some amazing cheekbones that are really brought out with her contour. I used the Essence Sun Club Matte Bronzer. It's $5 and smells like coconuts and works perfectly for her skin tone. A darker peach blush can be used in its place if contouring isn't your thing.

4.--Her lipstick is a lovely nude shade that is so natural and wearable. I've been obsessed with the L'Oreal Collection Exclusive Prive nudes. They have something for just about every skin tone. Pictured here is the Julianne shade, but I think the Jennifer's Nude is closer to the shade she wore (I didn't like the way it looked in the collage).

Cover Look for Less: Taylor Schilling for Allure Magazine

via
Are you obsessed with OITNB? Did you binge watch it like I did? So it was pretty much a no-brainer that this week's Cover Look For Less is the star of Orange is the New Black, Taylor Schilling. Here's how to get her look from Allure Magazine's July issue using only drugstore products:

orig
The makeup artist used Chanel makeup, but I was able to recreate the look with drugstore products. Check out my options below in 5 easy steps:

1-Place L'Oreal Infallible shadow in Amber Rush all over the lid to make them glow.

2-Line eyes with a brown liner and smudge, like this one from Rimmel Scandaleyes.

3-For mascara, this Maybelline The Rocket features a brush just like the Chanel version.

4-To warm up the skin,  brush a cream bronzer, like this one from Sonia Kashuk on cheeks.

5-The makeup artist used a clear balm, and I love Baby Lips in Quenched. It smells like Froot Loops!

What drugstore product is your fave?

Cover Look For Less: Miranda Kerr for Lucky Magazine

via lucky
I've got another cover look for less, a series I'm doing this month, and today it's Miranda Kerr for Lucky Magazine. I gave myself a challenge to use one brand, and I decided to use some products I was sent from Bonne Bell that I've been loving lately. Check 'em out:

Have you tried Bonne Bell? I admit, I thought they only made lip prodcuts, so I was really excited to sample a bit of everything. Bonne Bell products is fewer than $5 and can be found here. I was impressed with everything I got to try out, especially the lip products, eye liner, and nail lacquer. If you're look for an inexpensive brand with natural coverage, I highly recommend checking out Bonne Bell. Now let's see how to get the look for less:

  1. I started off with this neutral eye palette. I patted a light shimmery shade on the lid and swept a brown in the crease and blended it out.
  2. I smudged a bit of eyeliner--one of my fave products--on the top lashes, right into my lash line.
  3. I curled my lashes (I tried using a spoon, one of the first beauty tips I remember, as suggested by Miranda in the article) and applied mascara.
  4. For a bit of color on the cheeks, I applied the Gelbronze on my finger tips and blended it out. It's a nice alternative to blush that looks natural.
  5. On my lips I applied a little lipstick.
  6. And then I topped it with gloss. In person it looks exactly like the pics!
  7. On my nails, I used this gorgeous shimmery nude polish. It is one of my favorite polishes.
A few of my most-used products

SURPRISE GIVEAWAY!
I'm giving away some of my favorite products from Bonne Bell. Email me with Bonne Bell in subject line, your address, and I'll pick a winner. Good luck.
