Is Rihanna's Stunna Lip Kiss Proof? FENTY BEAUTY BY Stunna Lip Paint Longwear Fluid Lip Color Review

Well, look who's back? Me! So let's talk--how have you been? I've been WONDERFUL. And I am SO ready for this year to end. So ready.

But first--the holidays! I can't go through the holidays (or really a week) without a red lip. Red lipsticks are my shopping weakness, y'all, so it was a given I had to try out Fenty Beauty by Rihanna Stunna Lip Paint, available at Sephora. Singer Rihanna's Fenty Beauty line has been flying off the shelves at Sephora. Have you tried it?

So yeah, I love a red, but why did I get this one?

Rihanna wanted a universal red, something that looked great on ALL skin tones.

She wanted something feels light on the lips, not an easy task for a matte lipstick, as most are drying.

She also wanted a long-wearing lipstick, and thus (side note: who uses "thus"? Me!) this fluid lip to matte was born.

$24, Sephora (YES I think that's a ridiculous price)

Cruelty-free

Unscented

And what really piqued my interest? Rihanna said, "I wanted a lipstick that wouldn't budge—even as you eat, even as you make out,” I had to try it.

More on that in a minute! Let's get to the swatch:

So the consistency is liquid to matte. It doesn't take too long to dry. I did have some initial transfer, but not anything too drastic.

It's easy to wear and feels very light on the lips and not drying. I would say it's a true red, more like a traditional red. It is VERY VIVID on. You will definitely be noticed wearing this.

The application, to me, is not that easy. The applicator isn't too hard to work with, but the liquid consistency might make it difficult for the occasion red lip wearer.

Speaking of wearing, here it is on! I would highly recommend using a lip liner, which I did not use because I wanted you to see what it looks like without it.

BUT is it kiss-proof?

Um no.

Not even close.

Eating with it I had transfer too, but it really seemed to stay on and stain the lips. But it didn't last 12 hours as I'd heard.

Overall, it's a pretty red, I love the formula, and great for those who don't love a dry matte lip. Reviews online boast of it's kiss/eating/longlasting-ness of it, but I didn't encounter that. I'm glad I tried it though, but I still prefer my orange-reds.

Would you try this?
Have you tried anything from Rihanna's line?

30 Days Later--Did This Lip Plumper Work? PMD Kiss Update

This post has been sponsored by the PRIMP Network. All opinions are my own.

Y'all--I CANNOT believe how fast the month flew by. October is my favorite month (October baby here) and it goes by incredibly too fast for me. I bring this up because do you remember THIS post?

Here's a recap--this is the PMD Kiss. PMD® Kiss is a smart anti-aging lip plumping treatment. It uses pulsating vacuum technology and specially formulated serum to create a fuller appearance of lip volume and restore youthfulness to lips. With daily use, PMD Kiss will boost collagen and create long lasting plumped up results.

So I decided to try it out for 30 days! Here's my before:

Straight up, one of the things I am most self-conscious about is my lips.

And this never happened until I became a beauty blogger. I have heard all sorts of rude comments about them. Can you believe I've gotten comments to never wear lipstick because of my lips?

It made me too self-conscious to even smile.

Also, in addition to having thin lips, I don't like the color of my natural lips. It's a pale purple.

So I had to give PMD Kiss a try, right? Ok, so I used it for 30 days, and here's the before/after:

OMG! Can you tell a difference? I can!! I admit, I focused more on my top lip than my bottom, because that's wanted to see a change, but I can definitely tell. I also love the color it brings to my natural lip color as well.

I am SO happy with my results! If you're interested in checking out PMD Kiss for yourself, click here and get 20% off using code PRIMP20 (excluding subscriptions and sale items).

Can you tell a difference??

Try This Cheap & Unusual Trick for Soft Lips

This post has been sponsored by the PRIMP Network. All opinions are my own.

Today is a day of celebration! And for THREE reasons! First off, it's MY BIRTHDAY! It's my dog Charlie's Gotcha Day! And FINALLY y'all, I am no longer sick! Because who wants to be sick on her bday? Not this lady.

So yeah, I had strep, which I haven't had since I was like 12 or something. And I don't know about y'all, but when I get sick, my skin gets so dry. Part of it is from meds, like decongestants just dry me out. And part of it is from breathing so much out of my mouth. My lips get so dry and cracked. It's not a cute look, especially when being a beauty blogger means you have to take pics of your face. No one wants to see dry lips.

While at Walmart getting "I'm sick" essentials (tissues, meds, makeup--wait, how'd that get in the cart?) my eye was drawn to a product you might not think of: Herpecin L.

Herpecin L a unique, pharmacist-recommended product provides instant relief from burning, itching, and oozing from cold sores. You wouldn't believe how common cold sores are--it's estimated 50-80% of US adults have them. Herpecin L is remarkable because it also speeds up recovery so you don't have to suffer from cold sores for a week or longer.

Note my nails aren't painted. This is how you know I'm sick, y'all!

But it's an under-the-radar-little jewel! I love Herpecin L because it is a product than can be used year round and not just for cold sores! It can be used to prevent chapped lips or as a preventative treatment. It is more hydrating than other lip treatments AND it contains SPF!  It protects painful cracking of lips and promotes healing without numbing or drying.

Herpecin L is safe to use every day and it is uniquely formulated with dimethicone for protection, and sunscreens to help guard against the sun's harmful rays. No more sunburn!

And it's only $4.99 at Walmart. So keep this trick in mind for the upcoming cooler temps--or when you're headed out in the sun! And let me know what you think!

Dupe? Jeffree Star Velour Liquid Lipstick in Rose Matter Vs. Rimmel Stay Matte in Pink Bliss

And here we are sailing right on through to August. I'm in complete denial. As much as I love fall (it's the best season, end of discussion) I find myself clinging to summer. Maybe because it flew by?

So how's life? I plan on doing a huge post next week on this, but I am feeling much better, perhaps the best I've felt all year. I have been getting back into the swing of things, but just haven't been able to post as much as I want. But I always have time for beauty dupes!

Most of my dupes are from me looking through my collection. Some are suggestions. But today is a happy accident. I love when that happens. I am comparing two matte liquid lipsticks to see if I've got a dupe: Jeffree Star Velour Liquid Lipstick vs. Rimmel Stay Matte.

I really love this color--a neutral coral is how it's been described. It's an easy shade to wear for me. But one is $18 and one is $5. Let's see if we have a dupe here!

$18

.19 oz

Root Beer float scent

$5.49

.21 oz

Synthetic candy scent, kind of like Kylie Lip Kits

Now let's get into swatches:

Jeffree Star is on top, Rimmel is under it, and then there is a half swatch of each next to each other.

Lip swatch--half on my lip (top and bottom) on your left is Pink Bliss. Half on my lips (top and bottom) of your right is Rose Matter.

It's really hard to tell, isn't it? I will say that the Rimmel is patchy and required more product and came off a bit easier. Both lasted the same on average. Sometimes JS would wear longer. And JS was harder to get off my lips at the end of the day. I'd call these a dupe, so at the end of the day, it depends on ingredients preference and cost.

Would you call this a dupe?

DUPE? Covergirl MELTING POUT LIQUID LIPSTICK Vs. Too Faced Melted LIQUIFIED LONG WEAR LIPSTICK

So y'all, today is one of those days where I feel like the week is dragging by, and then I look at the calendar and realize we are halfway through June. Slow down, 2017!

And just what does that have to do with liquid lipstick? Well, today I'm comparing the new Covergirl Melting Pout Liquid Lipstick vs. Too Faced Melted Liquified Long Wear Lipstick. In my testing of those two products, I decided to try the former against some of my other liquid lipsticks, like Maybelline Color Jolt. I realized it was almost exactly a year ago that I tested that one! It doesn't seem like a year at all! And it makes me wonder, is Covergirl too late to get on the liquid lipstick train? L'Oreal released their version this past fall. Regardless, when I saw the new Covergirl Melting Pout last month, I had to pick it up and test it, since it reminded me of the Too Faced version--even the promos say it's comparable to a $20 liquid lipstick. But is it a dupe? Keep reading to find out.

Covergirl Melting Pout

$7.99

12 shades

What they say: "Stop the world and melt with COVERGIRL liquid lipstick! This all-new high-impact, opaque lip color is rich, creamy and compares to a $20 liquid lipstick. The soft touch precision applicator is cushiony and comfortable so lip color glides on smooth delivering a satin finish that's not sticky or tacky."

Unscented

I haven't really heard anything about these, and minus the day I purchased mine last month, I haven't seen them in any more stores. No displays, nothing!  But let's talk about the product--it has the applicator similar to Too Faced.

I felt like the packaging does not represent the color inside--I picked up 105 since most of the colors don't really appeal to me. Wearing it, it really looks just like my lips already.

It isn't as glossy as Too Faced or others that I've tried--those apply glossy and then dry down to a demi-matte finish. This seems to skip the glossy step and is already demi-matte. But it is not drying by any means. It's a nice feel on the lips.

Too Faced Melted Liquified Long Wear Lipstick

$21

15 shades

What they say: "Get the staying power of a stain, the intense color of a liquid lipstick and the high shine of a gloss in one long-wear formula. Using exclusive technology to keep cauldrons of molten lipsticks liquid and creamy, Melted Liquified Long Wear Lipstick comfortably coats lips in bursts of intense, high-impact, super rich, saturated color that lasts for hours."

Something interesting here--the Maybelline Color Jolt is .21 ounces and the Melting Pout is .24--look at the size difference in packaging! Too Faced is .4 oz.

Is it a dupe? Not really. I like the fact that it is unscented, but I prefer the finish (I like the gloss and the demi-matte) and staying power of Too Faced. However, it isn't a bad deal for $7.99, I just wish the shade range was better, since blue and purple lipsticks aren't my thing, but that's personal preference. If you have Color Jolt or L'Oreal Lip Paints already, there's no need to run out and get this. I did like it though!

Have you tried the Melting Pout liquid lipsticks yet?

L.A. Colors MATTE LIQUID LIP COLOR Review

If you were to take a peek into my makeup collection, I hope you'd notice the variety of price ranges when it comes to products. Sure, I recently shared an Empties post where I mentioned some expensive mascara. But I also love some cheap treats from the drugstore! I love it all!

Recently I was back in my hometown, which is a small town in South Georgia--if you've ever heard me speak, this is where the accent comes from. I've told y'all this before, but I swear by the drugstores in small towns. I can always find the latest makeup or some new-to-me goodies--it's my little not-really-a-secret. An example of that is the L.A. Colors Matte Liquid Lip Color. I found this at the Dollar General, y'all.

For $3, I had to give it a shot. Y'all already know my obsession with all things matte liquid lipsticks, right? I've covered them many times on here.

These come in 18 shades and can be found in stores like Dollar General and Kmart. You just have to look for them or order them online.

The product comes in a standard tube, similar to the size of other matte liquid lipsticks. The formula is nice and is not too thick or mousse-y. I find while I like the mousse-like liquid lipsticks, the product tends to separate on me and luckily that is not the formula for this one.

The applicator is tapered on either side--a little harder for me to work with, but I was able to apply without having to use a lip liner--I usually do use one, but when testing I wanted to see how easy application was. Pictured is the shade Perfection. It is definitely darker than the picture. See the swatches below:

I found this to apply nicely as long as I only did one coat--it could get the slightest bit crumbly if I applied too much. It is not as drying as some are, like Wet N Wild is on me. I also like it better than ColourPop. It does require some effort to remove, but nothing unusual. It does have a slight sweet candy scent--nothing like Kylie Lip Kits. Speaking of, should I do a Dupe or Not with this?

Serious blogger face alert! Someone commented they got tired of me smiling, so here's a serious face, where I look into the distance, and have deep thoughts about how I'm really wanting a donut. ;)

I kept my makeup minimal on this day for pics--foundation, concealer, blush and lipstick. By the way, those are my lash extensions still going strong over here! YES you can wear eye makeup and mascara and all with them--I clearly mentioned that in my review here, but you know how some people skim before they comment. Rant over. ;) When I asked a 3 year old her opinion, she asked me why I had purple lips--ha! I liked the shade on me!

Anyway, back to the wear of this: it lasted for a few hours, but it definitely wears off the more you drink, etc. I was really impressed though for the price! I'm not sure if I would get any more shades since most of them are really dark and the nude shades look too concealer-ish on me. But for $3 and if you want to try a liquid lipstick, this is a great one to try.

Have you tried LA Colors Matte Liquid Lip Color?

Extra Elle: Anyone else watch the train wreck of the Dirty Dancing remake last night? I did off and on, and I tried to give it a real chance and not immediately hate on it, but it was so bad!

Yes, You Need to Try Lip Liners

Do you use lip liner? I find it to be an essential part of my routine when I'm wearing lipstick. I used to not be that way, but wearing lip liner really, truly does make a difference. It just adds that something that gives a polished look.

I love them for defining my lips and I cannot wear a red lip without lip liner. Nope. No can do. Sometimes I'll completely fill in my lips with them and maybe add a gloss or a lip balm for that just-bitten look. Or other times I'll use a few of them for an ombre effect (Marylin Monroe's makeup artist supposedly used 5 on her red lips). When you check my beauty bag, you will definitely find some lip liners in there. The best part? This beauty must-have doesn't have to break the bank. That's why Maybelline Color Sensational Shaping Lip Liners can be found in my beauty bag.

I wanted to share these because they now come in 14 shades! I love the range--from the yes-you-need-one clear liner (great for those who have issues with lines around the mouth or lip color bleeding) to nudes, pinks, reds (fave), and darker berry tones.

Above are swatches and the names of the liners. These are twist up liners with a pointed tip. These are self-sharpening and help to give that shape and definition to lips. Check out the super-quick video below of the liners:

In addition to the liners, I was sent some lipsticks as well. Any guesses which ones were my favorite? Check the video clips to see:

A great every day lip right? This is Purely Nude lip liner combined with Born With It lipstick. And y'all already know what I picked as my fave:

Red is my go-to when I need that extra bit of sass and oomph! I'm wearing Brick Red liner and Rich Ruby! I love the creaminess of these liners and the staying power. Find the liners easily at a drugstore bear for you around $7.99.

Do you wear lip liner?
Have you tried the Maybelline Color Sensational Shaping Lip Liners before?
Which color did you like best?

Extra Elle:
After a brief hiatus, I made a stop a Target. I'm one of those people who's just happy browsing, but I admit a few little things popped in my cart. Oops! They had some of the carts decorated like Mario Kart, so of course I had to try one out. But now I'm on a shopping ban for May!
