5 NEW Drugstore Mascaras

On a recent trip to the drugstore, I found a bunch of new mascaras. And y'all know I was drawn to them instantly. After lots of testing, I've got my thoughts on these new drugstore mascaras!

Rimmel Shake It Fresh Mascara

With a simple shake, the mascara will be immediately refreshed to its original ideal smoothness, so volume always stays perfectly clump-free.

The brush helps to build volume without clumps, fanning out the lashes corner to corner with maximum separation making lashes look volumized, lengthened and defined.
Shake the mascara vertically 3 to 5 times when needed.
$5.99

The cocktail shaker-esque container is a little heavier than I'm used to and you have to really give it some good shakes to hear it working.

Rimmel tends to make wetter mascaras and the same goes for this one.

I liked the look and wear of it, but really haven't seen a difference as to whether I shake the mascara container or not.

Almay One Coat Mega Volume Mascara

The Megaphone Brush on Almay's One Coat Mega-Volume Mascara makes every lash shout!

This innovative Megaphone Brush is designed to maximize formula pickup and delivery to lashes.

$6.99

Scroll back up and look at the wand. Doesn't it look ridiculous? It's kind of hard to work with.

That being said, I really like the formula, which I normally don't care for in Almay mascaras, but the wand would keep me from purchasing again.

REVLON Mega Multiplier Mascara

With a unique formula of fibers and 360 tubes, Revlon's Mega Multiplier Mascara delivers an oversized lash look that turns heads.

Flake-free, smudge-proof wear

Mega Lash Brush deposits formula from lash line to tip for mega volume and extreme length

$8.99

I am just not a fan of Revlon mascaras, however, this one is not bad. It gives a natural look, but I probably wouldn't repurchase again.

L'Oreal Voluminous Lash Paradise

Intense volume and length

200 bristles

silky smooth formula

no smudging or clumping

$9.99

I really like this one--and I'm giving one away! It is pretty similar to the Too Faced Better Than Sex mascara.

COVERGIRL Total Tease Mascara

Use the lash teasing mascara comb for ease and control to tease even the tiniest corner lashes for a full, voluminous look.

$8.99
This mascara was awful the first few times I used it--very dry and I could tell no big difference. As time has gone on, it has gotten better but not enough for me repurchase.

Which of these mascaras would you try?

  1. I don't think I could work with the wand on the Almay mascara. I've been a fan of the Voluminous for years. I would definitely try the Lash Paradise!

  3. THat L'Oreal mascara is a good one! It's nice you were so impressed with it. It's made me remember that I got a freebie L'Oreal one with a purchase a while ago, I need to go hunt it out! I'm using a Rimmel one I got as a freebie but I'm not overly impressed with it.

Hope you are having an awesome week so far! :)

  6. This mascara post is so timely! I love IT Superhero mascara but I need to find one that is waterproof before my cousin's wedding -- I wore Superhero to the shower we hosted this past weekend and found out that waterproof is going to be a necessity! I will have to try a few of these -- the Lash Paradise looks awesome and I love the drugstore price points!

  9. I used to love Almay One Coat but it always seemed to dry up quick in the tube. I felt like I had to buy new mascara every month. Frustrating. Maybe that new formula takes care of that

  11. I haven't even seen half of these yet, so yay!!! Glad you tried them all out. I love a good Loreal mascara so I think that I will have to grab that one. Better Than Sex is my favorite high end one and I am sucker for any dupes or similar ones.

  13. I got the Rimmel one from Influenster and I really don't like it! The wand is so heavy and clunky. Since the formula is really wet I ended up getting it all over my cheeks and eyelids ... Not a good look lol!

  14. OK Elle, I have some big news to share with you. I tried mascara for the first time last week. You always have great mascara reviews and I got a tube in a subscription box so I figured i should finally try it out for myself. I liked it a lot, I wouldn’t wear it regularly because I would forget but I’m so proud that I even tried it. Thanks for inspiring me and always having great reviews. I like the Revlon Mega Multiplier on you.

  27. I love Revlon mascaras, lol. I just saw the Mega Multiplier on shelves and have been curious. Doesn't look like I need to swap out my volume+length for it, though. Thanks! The concept of the Total Tease is just bizarre, lol.

  41. Whenever I think of mascaras, I think of u too Elle! You are the mascara queen. With that being said though, I am not a fan the Loreal lash paradise. I know I know whats wrong with me? I'm just not a fan. I also tried the Almay one and agree its not a bad formula but that wand is ridiculous.

  42. Ooh, this post came right on time. Will be back in the States in a few weeks, so.... Can't wait to hit up Duane Reade!! Will pick up the Lash Paradise for sure!!

  43. I swear drugstore mascaras can be just as good or better than the high end makeup brands. I think the Rimmel mascara looks amazing on your eyelashes and the Total Tease Mascara looks equally as effective. Not sure about the rest.

  44. I've never liked Revlon mascaras either and I've tried so many of them. I got the L'Oréal Lash Paradise and OMG. It is so good. It's better than better than sex. I will not be repurchasing my too faced again. L'Oréal owns the mascara game in my opinion.

  45. Good to know about the L'Oreal mascara, I'll keep an eye out whenever I run out of the one I'm using right now. It's actually also a L'Oreal but it's the collagen one which works pretty well in my opinion but I haven't tried that many different mascaras.

  46. I really struggle to find good highstreet mascaras and I the ones that I always go back to are a little more expensive like Benefit Roller Lash and Lancome Hypnose Drama. The L'Oreal one sounds like it might work well for me so I will give it a try as it would be good to find a mascara that is a little cheaper :) x
