NEW L'Oreal Lip Paints Review

So before we begin, let's get caught up! I was in a dang funk last week. Luckily, I have good friends who dragged me out of the house for a fun dinner at one of my favorite places. I laughed and laughed and it was good for the soul. I took my dog Charlie with me to grab a red cup of holiday goodness from Starbucks--it was a little chilly, which made it even better. I also played with lots of new makeup from Sephora (look out for my haul this week!) and finished reviewing products from my last ULTA haul I got a little over a week ago. And the first thing I had to try would be these NEW L'Oreal Lip Paints! Here's everything you need to know:

L'Oreal Lip Paints

Description:
"In 1 stroke, the designer applicator precisely diffuses vibrant color to lips for high impact. Smudge-proof. Waterproof. Comfortable wear."

Benefits:
Saturated with pigments
High color impact
Designer applicator

Price:
$9.99 for .27 oz (for comparison, Maybelline Color Jolt is .20)

pic via Loreal's Facebook

Shades:
14

Pictured above is the applicator. I did not detect a scent.

I picked up the shades Sultry Sangria, Nude Star, and Wild Rose. Pictured above are arm swatches.

Swatch of Sultry Sangria
--this shade was VERY patchy and hard to apply

Swatch of Nude Star
--if you have the Maybelline Color Jolt in Stripped Down, this is similar, but a little more brown. Very close color-wise.

Swatch of Wild Rose
this is definitely more of a bubblegum pink on me.

Finish
This instantly felt familiar when I put it on. Definitely like a gloss but not sticky or too thick. Once the gloss wears off, there is a demi matte finish, but I consider this to be a pigmented gloss. It reminds me a little of the Too Faced Melted Lipsticks, but with a bit more of a gloss feel. These do not feel like the L'Oreal Matte liquid lipsticks.

Overall
I do like them, but the claims of being waterproof and smudge-proof were not true for me. Definitely worth a try, especially if you are looking for fun colors, like the blue or green.

Are you going to give these a try?

  15. I cant imagine how it could be waterproof/smudge proof with it being a paint. Bygones I guess.

  23. These shades loo fun. Too bad they don't keep up to their claim. I use LipSense and I love that it doesn't budge or smudge.

  24. Those colors are so pretty, and I love that they come off more like a gloss than a lipstick at first. My lips get so dry that sometimes I feel like a gloss is just easier to wear.

  25. Such pretty colors...love the Sangria on you!

  26. They appear to be really wet (i.e. they might smudge potentially if you're not careful) Did you run into that issue any? Beautiful colors, though!

  27. I'm not familiar with these, but am definitely intrugied now. I love that they don't have a strong scent and the demi-matte finish after the gloss wears off. The only thing making me a little hesitant is because of how patchy they look a bit patchy in the swatches.

  28. I love the sangria color on you! I always know some of these claims are too good to be true! Glad you are out of your funk, a lot of us were in one last week.

  29. They sound great.... But at the moment I'm trying not to buy anymore lip products unless I just fall in love with something and can't say no haha. I just cleaned out my lip product drawer and had to throw out lots that had gone bad and so now I'm "trying" to get better about only buying things I'll actually use haha. We will see how that goes :)

  30. I am on a hold of buying more lip anything, but that nude color has me tempted. Too bad they aren't smudge proof, but I like the bold colors!

  31. Sultry Sangria looks like a great color...I hate that it's patchy. Such a dud.

  33. I liked the lip paints, I wanted to try the Sultry Sangria, but then you said it was a bit difficult to apply... then I would stay with the Wild Rose, that looks so sweet! Unfortunately not waterproof, but that's Ok. Also the consistency seems to be good, according to your descritpion. And congratulations for being featured again! By the way, you look lovely!

  35. I really love L'Oreal products but I am kind of disappointed with the pigmentation to be honest. Maybe I'm just used to OFRA lip products being so pigmented.

  36. Congrats on making the list twice! You are the DIY Queen and so deserving. The applicator is really interesting. I thought it would be a sponge tip like the Maybelline and Too Faced ones. I think I'll give these a try, the light purple shade is calling my name.

  37. So fun you had a night out with friends laughing and enjoying yourself! These lip paints sound pretty good for the price but I agree, it's hard to imagine a gloss being waterproof and smudge proof without being extremely matte.

  38. Pretty colors but too bad they didn't live up to their claims. I am curious about that blue tube though :)
