Beauty Find of the Week: Hot Sock Hair Diffuser

Beauty find of the week time! Here's a beauty cheap treat that I LOVE, and I think you will too:

Random fact: the crown of my hair is naturally wavy. Sometimes, especially when I'm at the beach, it's easier to let the natural waves out than fool with curling irons and such. And when I travel, I don't always want to lug the 'ol diffuser around. For years I used a cotton sock and a hair elastic, but I wanted something that worked better.

This week's beauty find is the perfect travel diffuser and takes up no room in the suitcase.

I've got 2 options:

Hot Sock Hair Diffuser--Find this online and Urban Outfitters--$6

Plimatic Mitt Diffuser by Conair--This is pictured in the bottom right-hand corner. I like this one because it has a tight elastic fit. Find online and at Sally Beauty--$4.29 ($3.99 if you're a beauty club member)

Simply slide it on the nozzle of the hair dryer (pictured above) and use. And yes, it works on all of my hair, so if you have curly/wavy/permed hair, you might want to check this one out!

Or keep it in mind as a stocking stuffer for later.

What's your latest beauty find?

Extra Elle:
  • Got my hair done last week--the BEST! My hairstylist is going on maternity leave, so it was last time with her for a while.
  • I've had the past week off (I was in Charleston) so it's back to work I go today. Can't wait to see the kids and hear about their trip!
  • Thanks to everyone who's been watching my Instagram stories--I am loving the interaction!

  1. I finally just got the Instagram Stories or the email and then I noticed it on my IG last night. Wow, I feel a little overwhelmed with that and SnapChat now! Eek! I have curly hair and had no idea there were sock diffusers!! Interesting!! These would def. be easier to travel with.

  2. I never heard of a sock diffuser! I'm going to have to try this and see how it works!

  3. OOh this sounds great! I lost my diffuser and just let my hair air dry when I go wavy. This is a game changer! Glad you had a little time off!

  4. That's new to me - never seen that before. But how handy & clever!!

  5. How fun!!! And I love a beauty bargain :) You always find the coolest stuff.

  6. How fun! I need to use these in my hair more often. So good to see you this past week!!!

  8. Oh my goodness I love this idea! This is great if you are traveling overseas and stuck with hotel dryers too!

  9. I love using a diffuser when I wear my hair wavy. This is a great alternative to my bulk plastic diffuser.

  10. That's so cool, and even better that it takes up so little space in your suitcase! My hair just has a slight wave to it, so I never really used a diffuser very much.

  11. This is a great idea! I don't have a diffuser for my dryer but this looks like one that would be good to try to see if I need the real deal :)

  12. What a cool idea! I want to grab one of these guys and see what it does to my hair!

  13. That is such a space-saving alternative to a big diffuser! I really like this idea and the price!

  14. Oh my gosh! What an awesome invention! And you're so right, the perfect stocking stuffer for Christmas!

  16. I'm so gonna look for that Hot Sock one when I go to UO! Thanks for the heads up on this, Elle:)

  17. That is such a nifty product! I've cracked more than a few diffusers in my day and this is one I won't be able to break. Thanks for the tip!

  18. I rarely use a hair dryer and I honestly have no clue what a diffuser is for haha I got my hair done last week too. I was long over due!

  19. First time hearing about this! The crown of my head happens to be may more thick than the rest of my hair which means blow drying is a pain....I need to try this hot sock!

  20. I totally didn't know they made these, or that you can use a sock as a diffuser! I was literally just thinking last night that I wish I had a diffuse, now I know I can make or get a cheap alternative!

  21. really it's a great idea... Thanks for sharing.
