Bare Minerals Complexion Rescue Review + New Products

Spring is right around the corner! I say this as I am sitting by a fire, but maybe just talking about new spring makeup will warm things up a bit? Just go with it, k? Bare Minerals has lots of new fun items that I got to play with. Check 'em out:

c/o
-Modern PopREADY Eyeshadow 4.0 The Modern Icon Featuring: Exhale + Carefree + Sophisticate + Chic (smoky taupe/peach sherbet/natural amethyst/pink cashmere)
-Modern Pop Marvelous Moxie Lipstick In shades Fall in Love, Express Yourself, Dream Big in a satin finish
-Modern Pop Cream Glaze Lip Topcoat--This sheer lip topcoat instantly transforms existing lipcolor into a shiny, creamy pastel. Wear alone or over lipstick to soften color.
-Modern Pop Lash Domination Volumizing Mascara
-Modern Pop Lasting Line Long-Wearing Eyeliner--This is a nude shade, perfect for the waterline to make eyes more awake and open.

And the last two are feautred in the video below:
I share a demo and thorough review of the following products:
  • Bare Minerals has a new product called Complexion Rescue Tinted Hydrating Gel Cream--think of it like a BB cream or tinted moisturizer but it sinks into the skin like a gel. It is so light!
  • Comes in 10 shades
  • Unscented, no silicone or parabens
  • Broad spectrum SPF 30
  • Gives powerful hydration to thirsty skin, and I would recommend it for dry and normal skin.
  • I'm wearing 3 layers in the pic at the bottom--it gives light to medium coverage. I didn't wear powder in the demo and did get a little oily as the day wore on. I got
  • Love the glow on this and it looks great on camera.
  • $29 at ULTA, Sephora, Bare Escentuals stores and online.
    • Overall, I liked wearing 2 or 3 layers of this to get the coverage I wanted. If you have beautiful skin you can easily get away with 1 layer. I would purchase this for those days when I wanted light coverage and a product to really sink into skin.

  • They also released a brush in conjunction with the Complexion Rescue called Smoothing Face Brush for $28.
  • While the Complexion Rescue can be applied with fingertips (I compare both in the video) I preferred using the brush.
  • It's a soft, dual-fibre brush that can be used with other cream, liquid, and powder products.
    • While it is not necessary to apply the product, I really liked this brush.

Have you tried any of these products?

Extra Elle:
  • I had so much fun with the little ones yesterday flying kites, even though it was so cold and windy! I never get tired of seeing wonder in a child's eye!
  • My mind is in vacation mode! Today is gonna drag by, but hopefully it flies by!
  • I'll be at the Magic Kingdom for the next few days, so please follow my adventures on Instagram!

  4. I've never tried Bare Minerals before and am in need of a new BB cream. My skin is so dry this time of year, the Complexion Rescue sounds like what I need. I'm going to have to get to a store so I can find the right shade.

  7. Yay to vacation time - can't wait to follow along (and be super jealous - haha!). I think I need to try out the Bare Minerals hydrating gel. I hate anything heavy on my face, and with the awful cold weather, my face needs all the hydration it can get! xoxo

I just love this look, so pretty! Bare Minerals is a great brand, I love their eye shadows and I used to love their foundation when my skin was better. I need something with more coverage than their powders have to offer....but I may look in to that complexion stuff.

  35. I have been wanting to try the Complextion Rescue so thanks for the review. My skin is a bit oily so I am not sure it will work for me. But I love the new 4.0 shadows!! Have fun at Disney! Susan

  36. I thought this collection was really nice, generally, as well. I did pick up the Modern Pop Lasting Line Long-Wearing Eyeliner but haven't been getting on that well with it. I don't find that it stays in the water line. But it does work well to highlight the brow bone and contour the upper lip/cupids bow. :-)
