HUGE Beauty Haul--New Sephora, Drugstore, Target & More!

How was your Labor Day weekend? Mine was very low-key--there was a ridiculous amount of events going on in Atlanta, so I stayed inside and away from the madness. I'm getting over a cold, so I did nothing but watch movies and read. It was awesome! I also made you a video sharing products I'd purchased over the summer.

Something interesting: this post, plus video, took me over 6 hours to do (pics, filming, editing, etc). And after all of that time, I'll get "nice haul" comments from a 10 second scroll. Do you ever feel that way? You gotta laugh. But I managed to cut down over 40 minutes of me rambling whilst on cold meds into 19 minutes. In typical Elle fashion, I can't just share a product with you without giving a mini-review, so pour some coffee (or sugar or water) and get comfortable:

See swatches and close ups after the jump!

Dr. Jart BB Bounce Beauty Balm--Nice for oily skin

Nars Sheer Glow--Nice for a glowy finish (repurchase)

LORAC Skinny Palette--Pigmented, warm, autumnal colors

Bdellium Brushes--I use these both to contour and the smaller one is also used for liner.

Dr. Hauschka Rose Day Cream--Repurchase, used by celebs as a thick moisturizer

Embryolisee Lair Creme Concentre--Similar heavy moisturizer with many uses; used by celebs and makeup artists (repurchase)

Boo Boo Coverup--Thin, light, healing concealer (repurchase)

LA Girl Glazed Lip Paints--Similar in texture to OCC Lip Tars but for $3.

Hard Candy Lash Ink Mascara--Stays on 4 days (seriously) but made my lashes brittle.

Epielle BB Cream--Got this at an Asian beauty supply store and it's best for normal-oily skin.

L'Oreal Prive Nude Lipsticks in Julianne's Nude and Jennifer's Nude

L'Oreal Visible Lift Blur--Decent light coverage (for me) foundation

" Glossy Balms--Only sharing 1 here, but these are very glossy, nicely pigmented, but don't expect long staying power

" The Infalliable Blackbuster Liner--Large liner that I didn't like

" Voluminous Butterfly Midnight Black--Just like the original

Milani Color Statement Nail Lacquer--Chipped horribly within an hour--are these like that for you?

" Bella Ivory and Bella Champagne--Color isn't showing well here, but they are both beautiful, basic colors.

Got 2 B Rise N Shine Glistening Blow Dry Cream--Wore this in my last 2 videos; didn't allow hair to hold curl

CVS One Touch Pump Eye Makeup Remover--Like the container, not the product

Nuance Selma Hayek Wave Enhancing Styling Swirl--Repurchase. Love for my natural waves

Sonia Kashuk Cream Bronzer in Warm Tan--My dry skin loves this

SK Cream Blush--Pretty, wearable coral

SK Radiant Tinted Moisturizer--Didn't make me really radiant, but I liked it

SK Highlighters--Love these cream highlighters!

SK Dewy Lip/Cheek Stain--Not enough pigmentation for me

WNW LE Palettes (more info below)

LE Sun-Set to See--nice matte trio

WNW Wild Shine Nail Color--Pretty, peachy pink

 Swatches of above-mentioned products

Arm swatches of select products mentioned

WNW Melrose At Night
Much better consistency than the 5 pans released last (?) year.
Similar consistency to 8 pan palettes

 WNW Smoke & Melrose

I did notice that many of the colors in these 2 LE palettes were similar or dupes to select WNW 3 pan palettes, 8 pan palette Petal Pusher, the Black Radiance palette Downtown Browns (those are the depotted single shades above), and the shade Uncensored from the LORAC Unzipped is nearly identical to an eyelid shade. If you already own these, then skip these 2 palettes, but I do like them.

WNW on left, N3 on right
However, I was most curious to see if they were similar to the UD Naked 3. The next week I noticed my thoughts were not alone, as I was seeing dupe alerts on blogs, and trust me, there are no dupes. A few might look similar here, but that is just the pic. They are almost nothing alike in person, even with or without flash. That being said, they are a much cheaper alternative to the N3. No dupes.

What beauty products have you purchased lately?
How long does it take you to do a post from start to finish?

  20. You got a TON of stuff! Wow! Dr. Jart BB Bounce Beauty Balm sounds interesting. It reminds me of the Laigne BB Bouncy Balm. I haven't tried it but I hear they sell it at Target. I am currently working on a comparison post between the Melted Lipstick and the Glazed Lip Paint. That hard candy mascara sounds like something I would like to try. Those WnW palettes are pretty but I do have the Naked 3 and Petal Pusher.

    1. Aww you beat me to it! I was scrolling down the comments to see if anyone would jump on the "Nice Haul" joke/sarcasm opportunity. :-) Darn. On another note, where did you pick up the Lorac Skinny Palette, Elle? And I'm going to subscribe to your Channel now...don't know why I haven't done it sooner. Hope you're feeling better. :-)

  24. I searched for the WnW Melrose palettes and couldn't find them so I settled for a 3-pan. I used it once and it seems to be great quality. Wish I'd gotten one of the Melrose options though :(

  26. i hear you on time spent...i can spend an entire day on a post from shooting, editing pics, and writing :p
i hummed and hawed for a good 15-20 minutes over those revlon nudes and finally grabbed Doutzen's nude. ugh...hate it (there weren't any testers). it's not bad, but i feel like i have 10 others very similar.

    ReplyDelete
  27. I really want to try Doutzen's nude from L'Oreal!!!! Saw them in the store the other day and the only ones there were ones that people had swatched... hate when that happens!

  28. That's too bad the nail polish came off so quickly. I don't have great experience with any kind of nail polish staying on for more than a day without chipping. That glossy balm is such a gorgeous color even if it doesn't stay on that long though!

  29. The Bdellium brushes look fantastic, and I like the idea about using the big one for contouring! Hope you are feeling better!

  30. Hope you'll feel better soon but oh my goodness, what a brilliant haul! I'm jealous! xx

  31. I have been trying to find a great moisturizer, especially with the colder months right around the corner. I think I am going to have to try one of the ones you recomended. Which one do you like best?

  32. Six hours?! Girl! Anyone who thinks blogging can't be a full time job is sooo wrong, haha! I love that Sephora resent the package! That's great costumer service. Hope you start feeling better soon!

  33. awesome video! That eye product sounds awesome until you hear it stings your eyes, haha! Way to be resourceful and use the bottle for something else. It would be perfect for nail polish remover!

  34. Holy smokes, nice haul!! The Lorac Skinny palette is calling my name. I haven't seen any of the new Milani products in my are yet, but I stalk my favorite drugstore every day. I actually kind of wish they'd stuck with their old polish bottle design, it was so unique. Really looking forward to the gel shadows.

I totally believe the six hour bit. There's a reason (well, a few, lol) I haven't ventured into videos. I always thought haul posts were supposed to be relatively quick but they're so not!

My Labor Day weekend was super low key-- my DH worked Saturday and Sunday, so I did a lot o' blogging and minimal housework :)

  35. Wow. So many new products to explore... How do you find the time to try them all?

  36. great haul! that Lorac palette looks really nice

  37. Hope you're feeling better. We always thought when nail polish chipped hours after applying, it was because we were crazy lol

  38. These are amazing products! Lucky girl! Shame about the Milani polish because I've always loved the colors. Guess I'll be sticking to my Zoya and OPI favorites for now!

  39. "nice haul"

haha, just kidding -- I wouldn't do that to you, girl!

What an awesome haul! I am not able to watch the video right now, but I'll go back later and watch it. A lot of the products you mentioned I've never tried before. I'll have to listen for your mini review for the NARS foundation, I'm curious about that one. :-)

  42. GIRL, this does not help my shopping habit ;)
The LORAC palette is so pretty. I love all of those autumn colors. And I've been meaning to try NARS Sheer Glow for sooo long, but always forget to test their colors when I'm at Sephora. I gotta push that to the top of my list!

And I need all of those Sonia Kashuk products in my makeup drawer. I love her and her brand. Her makeup is such great quality.

    ReplyDelete
  43. Love the colors in the Lorac palette. The NARS nail color is something I would like. I got the Boo Boo coverup in an Ipsy bag and I LOVE it!! From start to finish it is usually 2-3 hours, if it's a recipe post even longer.

    ReplyDelete
  44. I always love watching your hauls because I learn so much about beauty products! I like that you review them as you discuss ; )

    ReplyDelete
  45. Get well soon! Damn that is quite the haul. Those Wet 'n Wild shades are SO similar... good eye. That Milani champagne shadow looks gorgeous. I may need to look at the Milani section more next time I'm at the drugstore. I also liked the Sonia Kashuk products. Haven't tried her makeup yet. I tried a sample of that Embryolisee Lair Creme Concentre (I think in a Birchbox) and didn't get the hype. Not sure what I'm missing on that one :p

Thanks for linking up with MMG :)
