Trio Lashes--My Fool-Proof Tip For False Lashes

Love the look of false lashes but not the hassle of them?

I'm the same way sometimes. Not all lashes are the same--maybe the bands are too thick, the lashes can be too heavy (caterpillar eyes), or the lashes can be too long, something a trim won't fix.

So when I'm not in the mood to fool with lashes but want the look of them, I head to my stash for Trio lashes. These are just 3 individual lashes on a tiny strip.

They are fool-proof, y'all. And you can apply them faster than regular false lashes. Even faster than individual lashes, too.

  • You can get these at any drugstore or online for $3 and up.
  • I like the brands Kiss (pictured below) or Ardell.
  • They come in different lengths: short, medium, long. They come in one size or variety packs featuring two or more sizes.
  • I would suggest short for a natural look and for beginners.

Here's what you'll need --
  • trio lashes
  • eyelash glue (I use Revlon Dark because I'm allergic to latex and I like how it dries black)
  • tweezers
  • lash curler
  • mascara
  • eyeliner

1--Curl lashes
  • Yes, you need a lash curler--there's some resistance from those who have curled lashes, as opposed to straight but hear me out. The purpose here is to lift the lashes and give a longer-lasting curl. In all of my years of doing makeup, I've never met anyone that didn't benefit from using a lash curler. I have pricey ones because there is a huge difference to me, but the drugstore has plenty of options.

2--Apply a coat of mascara
  • It doesn't matter the type or brand. This is just to give a guide where to place the lashes. Not pictured: strange face I make when I apply mascara. Do you do that too?

3--Apply glue
  • Hold the trio lash in the middle with your tweezers. Apply the lash glue to the band.

4--Apply trio lashes

  • Always start from the outer corner and work in. For a very natural look, you will need only a couple of trio lashes.
  • Take the trio lash (pictured above) and place the band on your upper lash line.
  • Repeat the step placing the trio lash strip next to the first one.
  • From here, you can add more, finishing up the eye, or just two or three. It all depends on the look you want.
  • Repeat on the other eye.
5--Press, brush, line
  • Go back to the first eye you applied lashes to. Take your lash curler and gently press it in the middle of your lashes. This helps join the lashes together, if they aren't already.
  • Add another coast of mascara if desired.
  • Add your eyeliner--liquid works best for this.

Lashes on your left. Mascara only on your right.
I used short trio lashes for the entire length of my eye.

Advanced Ideas
  • Try medium or long lashes on the ends and end with short lashes closest to the inner corner.
  • Try a pattern of short then medium then short. OR medium and long if you have really long lashes.
Lashes on your left, curled lashes with mascara on your right

And that's it!
Everyone I've gotten to try this method has been able to do it effortlessly.
And now you can, too!

Have you tried trio lashes?

  16. That is so smart about going back in with the curler at the end. I need to pick some of these up! I'm pretty ok using the individual lashes but this will save time!

  25. I've actually been using these for a while in the short length to pump up my regular lashes every day! I got lash extensions a few times, but they end up breaking my lashes off :( so instead I just practiced with falsies until I can apply them in 2 minutes flat in the morning!

  31. What eyelash curler would you recommend? I need a new one. I have never tried the smaller fake lashes before, not that I wear them often... but, this does sound easier and you can really tell a difference!
