Discontinued Beauty Tag Plus Ipsy August

Hey you! How was your weekend? I got caught up on mags, had a blog event and had dinner with some friends. The weekend flew by, as usual! So today's post is a 2-in-1! First up is my Discontinued Beauty Tag--do you have products you still love but they aren't made anymore? Or maybe they were reformulated and just aren't the same? See exactly what I'm talking about as I picked a few of my favorites, below:

I tag YOU! Let me know your gone-not-forgotten beauty products in your own video (or in the comments).

Speaking of beauty products, every month I share what I got in my Ipsy bag. The theme this month is Beauty Schooled. Let's see what I got in my cute orange polka dot bag below:

Info below via my Ipsy Glam Room.
Lord & Berry: Silk Kajal Kohl Eye Pencil
Sensual and exotic, that's the effect that Silk Kajal Kohl Eye Pencil delivers. Just like the traditional Kohl, but with the modern ease and control of a pencil. Giving a semi-matte finish that is also smudgeable, Silk Kajal Kohl's soft tip is ophthalmologically-tested and gentle enough to be used on the inner eye. Also available in Nudo and White. It's very tiny, but liking so far.

Urban Decay: Perversion Mascara

Bigger. Blacker. Badder. Urban Decay's ultra-creamy, lengthening and volumizing mascara features triple-black pigments and a deeply nourishing ingredient blend. Perversion Mascara gets you sexy in one stroke, yet it won’t quit until you say when. It's a good mascara but it has flaked on me a little. Can't wait to test it out more.

Free Your Mane: Reviving Spray
Free Your Mane Reviving Spray gives your do a fresh start without making you start from scratch. This versatile spray plays well with other products — reviving them (get it?) without weighing down your locks. This made my straightened hairstyle disappear, so I need to try this on curly or wavy hair. Nice sample size.

Bee All Natural: Organic Grapefruit Lip Balm
Pure and natural organic lip balm that soothes and heals dry, chapped lips. A light and refreshing blend of organic beeswax and organic oils. I didn't like this one--smelled mostly of raw cocoa butter (no, not coconut or grapefruit) and kept flaking chunky bits on my lips when I tried to use it.

Manna Kadar Cosmetics: Sheer Glo
Sheer Glo is an incandescent liquid that lights up skin with all over radiance. Mix with foundation or wear alone to provide a luminous glow for all skin types. An especially amazing product for mature or dry skin. Sheer Glo provides a youthful glow and dewy finish. Use on face and/or body and get glowing. Glow is very subtle, meaning many would be a fan of this.

  7. I can't believe the reformulated perfume! That surprises me! My mom loved a gel blush from Bonnie Bell and still orders it by the case every so often because the only place she can get it is the company! Thankfully all the products I love are still around!

  8. That is an amazing bag! Shamefully this is the first time I heard of UD Perversion mascara, must check it out the next time I visit Sephora!

I love all lip balms, so lovely!

  12. I wish I had gotten the Free Your Mane: Reviving Spray! I got a pore primer instead. The lip gloss I got I love.

  13. oh i freaking hate when they do that. i used to use a maybelline product for my 'foundation' it was like tinted moisturiser almost. very light, but perfect coverage for me. of course they stopped making it, and i have tried every product under the sun that claims to be similar, and they arent. i bought like 20 off ebay a couple of years ago and i'm almost running out :(

  18. That Free your Mane stuff sounds interesting, but my mature skin is excited about that Sheer Glo!

  19. You have excellent video presentation skills! I've read that they changed SH Pacific Blue too. WHY?! When something is popular like that why mess with it? My "I still miss it product" is Vidal Sassoon hairspray that was out in the 90s and early 2000s. They discontinued the whole line of products, then brought them back in around 2012/13, but the formula of the hairspray is not the same. :( Bummer because it was so affordable and worked great!

  22. I was sooo mad about the Miss Dior Cherie! My all time favorite fragrance and they change it!

  23. I can't really think of a one product that I loved and that is no longer on the market Elle, however I've been using Avon's beautiful perfume Passion Dance for a while and I really fear it will be gone someday. I know, it may be an unreasonable fear but I love it so much that I can't think of any other perfume replacing it. For now that's for sure. x

  27. The reviving spray sounds interesting... is it kind of like dry shampoo? I cancelled my Birchbox a while back but now I want to try Ipsy... the bags are so much better!

    ReplyDelete
  28. Ok, now I need that mascara. Because 10 mascaras is never enough! You look great in this video, btw!

    ReplyDelete
  29. Nice post! I don't have a Ipsy subscription, but this month's bag looks like it has a lot of good products!

    ReplyDelete
  30. You'll have to keep me posted on Perversion... I've been curious! I hate flaking though. Blah!

  31. I don't know any of those discontinued items, I feel like I just failed at life.

    ReplyDelete
  32. Love your video, you have a good approach and provide great insight

    ReplyDelete
  33. Love the video!! I also got that little eye liner in my ipsy bag and like it so far. I was surprised!

    ReplyDelete
  34. I didn't know Miss Dior Cherie had changed their formula! ahhh! WHY?

P.S. I got the lip gloss in the mail...thanks!!! :D It's great and I will need to write a blog about it soon ;)

  35. Can't wait to watch your video! I HATE when products are discontinued (my Tarte liner), but worse, is when they "reformulate" and it sucks!

    ReplyDelete
  36. You got great items in your Ipsy bag!! I would love to try that sheer glo product! I need my summer glow to last(: Susan

  37. I'm interested in the reviving spray. Wonder if it works well.

    ReplyDelete
  38. oh MAN. i SO agree with the pacific blue comment!!!! i bought a 2nd one, not knowing and when i bought it it seemed a little darker in the bottle but i just said ah, whatever.. used it. SO not the same. argh!

  39. You look gorgeous in red. I am glad that stores and brands discontinue beauty products when they don't work out or are re-called. Otherwise they'd piss off many more people.

  40. In college, I used to use this Cover Girl Super Thick Mascara in a skinny red tube. It was so cheap and so incredible for volumizing lashes. It was actually the only Cover Girl mascara I have ever really liked. Then, about a year after I discovered it, they changed the formula. Suddenly, it went on like a cheap mascara. It flaked every where and barely darkened my lashes. I had to change to another product. So sad!

  41. I hate when beauty items get discontinued, i remember i had this amazing cream foundation from almay years ago and the reformulated and discontinued it - I was heart broken. Awesome Ipsy!

  42. Oh yes! The Clean and Clear Heat Up Mask! Those Revlon polishes are GORGEOUS! I would use every single one. I think my most devastating discontinued product is Guerlain Parure Aqua foundation. It was SO beautiful! Made the skin look airbrushed, was weightless, and stayed put without setting powder all day on my oily face. I bought it RIGHT before they DC'd it! I also miss Maybelline Kissing Koolers from 6th grade! Those things were AWESOME.

    ReplyDelete
  43. PS: I just found Kissing Koolers on eBay for $8.99! YES!! :D

    ReplyDelete
  44. Great topic! So many products ruined by reformulation :( Hair products are always the worst since its hard to find the one for you then the company goes and changes the formula - ahh!

I got that Manna glow in a Birchbox and I really like it because you can use it as a blush or mix it in with foundation.

    ReplyDelete
  45. We got the exact same items in our Ipsy bags. That's pretty rare.

    ReplyDelete
  46. Ooooh, I really want the reviving spray!
