Outfit of the Week: Atl Snow Day

I survived the Atlanta Snow Week 2011! Ha. But seriously, it was pretty scary there for a minute. Atlanta was sorely unprepared for the snow. Sure, gravel & salt were strewn everywhere, but the city lacks snowplows/scrapers, so ice made driving nearly impossible. It was really weird to be unable to go to work for a week(!). It was also unusual to see snow that looked like snow but was really a thick, shiny sheet of ice. Anywho, I had a dose of cabin fever and the only remedy was the movies. I wanted to be comfy and warm when it came to my outfit, so I wore a sweater & skinnies and this outfit. I saw Blue Valentine (hated it) and this is what I wore:

Atl Snow Day

  • A peacoat is hands-down my Winter Wardrobe Essential. I tend to almost always buy black, but there are beautiful colors and prints for those who really wanna mix it up.
  • I love a dash of animal print here and there. My leopard scarf gave me some color.
  • To keep the winter frizzies down, I love the Living Proof line. It keeps my hair frizz-free and smooth. I wore my hair in a low ponytail.
  • When I need a durable, tough boot, these have never let me down and I've taken them all over the world.
  • EVERYONE who knew I ordered these slip-on spikes laughed. When would I ever use these? You live in the South! Well, I was the only one who didn't slip and fall (I'm rather clumsy) during this ice-capade. Who's laughing now? Not exactly glamorous or a beauty item, but they sure do work and you can put 'em on any shoes.
What's your go-to winter outfit?

  3. My winter outfit would be a chunky cardigan + a cute beret. I had a look at the slip on spikes, look funny but Im sure they would stop you from slipping on the ice and snow! xx

I LOVE this ensemble, I wish I had winter here, but since I live in the tropics, I can only dream of fur (faux of course) and yummy woolen sweaters, a girl can dream right? ;)

Btw, I take acupuncture to help me manage my stress and depression, and it has helped me tremendously, hope this helps :)

  7. I hardly take my winter boots off for the winter, so I tried to buy "fashionable" ones a few years ago :) They do the trick!

  13. As you know, I'm over my snow boots--yours are by far way cooler looking than mine...they're tough and rugged, and the slip on spikes make them practical obviously. Plus, who doesn't love a leopard print scarf, heck I love anything leopard print! Glad to hear you survived the freak Atlanta snow.

  16. Come to MN for some real snow! :)

In the winter, I live in sweats or yoga pants and sweatshirts. I'm all about comfort and warmth and not worrying about getting dog hair on anything good.

  22. Ooh you just reminded me of my pea coat! I have to dig that out this winter. I've been living in my down puffer coat-it's been so cold! A week off from work-sounds like heaven! Why didn't you like Blue Valentine? I'm dying to go see it but it's not playing around me. Details!
