Coffee & Chit Chat: Surprise

Happy Friday, y'all! You might remember I used to do a series on my Youtube called Coffee and Chit Chat. I stopped because no one really watched it, but I wanted to bring it back here. Just imagine us having coffee (water, tea, whatever--I won't tell) and getting caught up. Here's what I've been up to lately:

Dentist
I have a pretty strong threshold for pain, but not for anything dental. Everything is sensitive. Always has been. My sister is the same way. They could only do half of my mouth because it hurt so badly. They gave me 10 shots and I could still feel it. But on the good side, the dentist said I had amazingly white teeth! Yes! Y'all know how I am about having white teeth.

Surprise!
After weeks of planning, my family managed to pull of a surprise for my Mama's 60th birthday. I left the dentist and drove from Atlanta to my hometown. We had a secret family photo shoot. Then we went to dinner and my step-dad brought her to the restaurant for the surprise. We presented her with one of the pics of us. She was so happy. We are more of a candid pics kind of family (aka my family is usually in their comfy clothes mode at home) so this was a big deal. And we usually aren't ever together all at once, not even on holidays, especially since I live 5 hours away.

Losing It
I feel like February was kind of a "meh" month. Maybe I'll write about that another time, but there's always something good, right? My "something good" is my weight loss. I'm down 20 pounds--not so sure about that after yummy pasta last night--and I'm really happy. I'm not down to where I want to be, but I can definitely see the progress. I'm especially proud of how I've really slowed down my coffee and soda intake. I used to drink 4 cups of coffee (aka mostly creamer and a little coffee) a day. Now I'm down to one cup on the weekends, unless I have a really late work day. I'm upping my water intake, but it's hard at work (long boring story), but it's better than it was!! You can read about what I'm doing here. And my latest update here.

Have a great weekend!
What's new with you?

  1. I'm glad that you brought this series back and onto the blog, Elle! I haven't had any time to surf YouTube at all with the exception of a yoga video for my practise. And wow, that must be quite the feat for you guys to pull off the surprise, bet your mum was over the moon!

  3. It's fun to review the week!!
As a retired dentist, I always felt so bad about the patients that couldn't get numb as easily and still felt it! You are such a trooper!!

  4. I've had to cut down dramatically on coffee with the pregnancy and I swear I have not gotten used to it at all. It's been way tougher than I thought it would be so I've got nothing but respect for you!

  6. I love how you surprised your Momma! how very sweet! February was a horrible month for me, I'm hoping March will be better. So far it is not but I'm trying to stay positive. I'm going next week for some dental work and I dread it! I swear it is a form of legal torture! Thankfully, my dentist is awesome but still.

  7. I am the same way at the dentist - I can feel things easily... & numbing stuff wears off on me so easily. I have had so many dentists that give me what they think is "enough" & half way through a procedure, I can feel everything. They are always amazed. So I'm always saying, GIVE ME MORE NOW at the beginning. I dont care if I'm numb for 24 hours - just get me numb.

Or eyes, I hate going to the eye doctor too. You are doing awesome!!! I am slowly getting my motivation back to eat clean and get back to regular work outs. So hard to get started! I have about 17 lbs of baby weight to lose, and then a good 25 or so that I was trying to rid before I ever got pregnant. Woof. Hope you have a great weekend!!!!

  29. Oh, that was so sweet, to give your mother a picture of the family, I bet she was so touched, like you said! And your nieces and nephews are soooo sweet! I simply love kids and I know you too! And I didn't know about the pain - I guess I am the contrary, but anyway, who wants pain, whichever level it is :) I am also very careful with teeth and the color, I think it is our "business cards" :) Really glad about the 20 lbs, as I said before, and I am a water lover, so, boring story or not :) like you said, go on trying to drink it more :) Really well done, Elle, I am very very glad for you, you are inspiring!

  36. I will go to any other doctor in a heartbeat, but the dentist is terrifying to me. I went my entire life with excellent teeth and right after my daughter was born, my teeth and gums just took a turn for the worse. Something no one talks about when it comes to pregnancy!
