NEW L'Oreal Makeup + Skincare + Haircare Reviews

Finishing up my huge roundup of the new releases in drugstore makeup (check out part 1 and part 2)! And today I'm sharing my L'Oreal haul. I purchased these items in December and after many uses, I'm ready to share them with you. Let me know what you're interested in from this haul!

L'Oreal released a trio of makeup blending sponges. After checking them out, I decided the one that was for me was the L'Oreal Infallible Blend Artist Concealer Blender. I found the yellow one to be too huge and awkward to work with. The pink one wasn't soft enough for me.

But back to the concealing sponge. What makes it different from other sponges is the cut bottom, making it easy to stand upright. It does a nice job of blending, if you are looking for a smaller sponge but not as small as mini-beauty blenders (see reviews here).

And speaking of Beauty Blenders, here's a size comparison amongst the L'Oreal concealer sponge, BB, and the Real Techniques sponges.

I also found lots of new skincare, but since I have dry skin, I only picked up a couple of things for me. There's the Hydra Genius Daily Liquid Care for dry skin (there's a normal skin one too). While the moisturizer is light, comes in a pump, and I like the formula, I feel like I paid $18 for heavy packaging. Don't get me wrong, it's nice and heavy, but I don't think I would buy this again.

The Extra Dry Skin says it's lightweight, but it's very thick and it works well. I use a scoop instead of fingers to use this. Both are scented, which may aggravate sensitive skin, but I enjoyed the scent.

Next up I found these new L'Oreal Micellar Waters. I'm pretty sure I've reviewed every micellar water known to man at this point, but I can't help it, I love them, and they're nice to keep in my professional makeup kit.

At first glance, the tops remind me of the ones released last year from Garnier (see reviews here). There is a cleanser for normal to oily, normal to dry (pink), and all skin types (waterproof).

Here's a quick waterproof liquid liner test of each, as listed in the first pic, using a Qtip. The first two took about 20 swipes to completely remove the makeup. The bottom one took about 5.

I decided to compare the L'Oreal micellar waters to the Garnier ones. They are the same size but the Garnier is around $8 and the L'Oreal is around $10.

The first line has the pink Garnier vs. the pink L'Oreal.

The second line is the aqua Garnier vs. the aqua L'oreal. I felt they were pretty equal results-wise, but the Garnier won for cleaning away the makeup the fastest.

The third line was the Garnier aqua vs. L'oreal waterproof using only my finger. The Garnier won this round.

The L'oreal Infallible Total Cover foundation was next. This oxidized on my skin quickly, which isn't unusual for full-coverage foundation. My dry skin didn't like this, plus it turned it orange, and the color on the tube is not indicative of the shade inside. I didn't like this on me, so sadly, no orange pics! ;)

I forgot to mention these hair care products I got from Influnester. I really love the Ever Pure Sulfate-Free 10-in-one elixir. It worked great on my blow out, and gave me some volume.

There is also the shampoo and conditioner--mine is the moisture one, but there are others for different hair care needs. I really liked these too, but they are almost too moisturizing.  I would buy all of the hair care products.

Other releases from L'Oreal I skipped:

  • cream contour/highlight (and I believe there was a color correcting one) palette
  • Dual-ended shadow sticks
  • Blush quads--they almost ended up in my cart!

Which products from this haul did you find interesting?

Extra Elle:
I have been tackling my inbox, getting 1873 emails down to 128!
I watched the Carrie Fisher/Debbie Reynolds documentary and found it bittersweet.

  8. I didnt know that documentary was out yet. I need to check it out. I just started her book The Princess Diarist. Its breaking my heart.
So crazy those sponges now have different shapes & intensities. I'll stick with my usual Beauty Blender :)

  9. Wow, the blue concealing sponge really is tiny compared to the BB! I love the BB but I do love the size of this concealing sponge, good for smaller spaces for sure!

  11. dang girl, that's a lot of emails! love the look of the concealer sponge, especially because it can sit up. sucks about the foundation, orange is not a good look on anyone. i have the Garnier water and i really like it. i think i have the pink one. i don't use it a lot, but it's good for light makeup removal for me.

  13. L'Oreal definitely make some of my favorite beauty and hair products. The Ever Pure line I have found to be fantastic. So thankful for your reviews! Have a wonderful day beautiful!

  14. So many new L'Oreal products! I want to try that concealer beauty sponge- what a good size! And I never know why companies don't make the foundation packaging either clear (so you can see the product color) or match the product color exactly...?

  15. I am always looking for a good hair product after a blow-dry for some volume and no frizz. What does the Ever Pure do exactly? Is it worth for me to try? Please let me know. BTW, I tried Miscellar water for the first time last year, because of your reviews and it was great. I use the Garnier ones. And I have a beauty blender sponge from ELF I currently use and love. Mine looks exaclty like the pink one from L'Oreal from this post.

Have a great day Elle! Keep these drug store reviews coming!

  16. I had high hopes for that foundation but I don't like it either. I have combo/oily skin and I felt it didn't look good on my skin either. It also wasn't as full coverage as I thought it was going to be.

  17. I need to try Micellar Water! I've read your great reviews of them and some others, and I need to just give it a try!

  18. I have been wanting to try Micellar Water, even though I know it's been out awhile now. I can't believe how many emails you had! Wow!!

  19. Bummer about the L'oreal Infallible Total Cover! I like the Infallible foundation I've tried and I do like good coverage, so this would have been perfect, if only it was good!

  20. I've been wanting to try the foundation! I was also interested in the blush palettes, and I'm glad you compared those micellar waters! I still haven't tried the garnier ones but I think I'll still go for those instead

  21. Ooooo....I love that the concealer sponge can stand up like that. Very cool. And out of all the products, the elixir will probably be the one I'd like to try the most. :)

PS I have to see that doc. Have heard great things about it! Still can't believe they're both gone, you know? I'm a huge fan of both!

  22. I'm so curious about the Micellar water. I keep picking it up at the store.

  23. Okay I just clicked over and read your mini sponge post. I'm sure you have answered this, but I have been considering getting a sponge. Is beauty blender your favorite? I just wasn't sure if it was worth the cash. Or should I maybe try the blue one you liked above?

  27. I like the hair care line from them, it has been working great for my hair. So do you like the real techniques or this one better as far as beauty blenders go? I have been loving my real techniques but if you think this is better, I would switch.

  28. I liked the Hydra Genius moisturizer, I mean, here when I saw and read about it, but then you wrote it has fragrance and for my sensitive skin I will have to pass, then :( But I loved the sponge, it can stand, how cool is that? Also, the Miccelar water waterproof is for me! I love Micellar water from L'Oreal and with a product for waterproof products, how good is that? Bad that the foundation oxidizes, then I spared some money now because you told us! Thanks for that! :)

  29. There are so many things here I want to try! I still haven't tried Micellar water, so I'll have to try one of these (or maybe Garnier's). The concealer sponge also looks like one I'd use a lot.

  30. I'll have to give those sponges a try! I'm always on the hunt for good inexpensive options! :)

  31. I was thinking of trying the L'oreal Infallible foundation but it doesn't sound great and I have heard a few bad things about it recently so maybe I need to give that one a miss. The sponge sounds great though and I am in need of a new one so I will keep my eyes peeled for that! x

  32. I can always use more volume in my hair :P

  33. I've tried the foundation as well and am not a big fan unfortunately. I thought I would like it considering i'm a big fan of more mousse like textures for foundations.

  34. I definitely want to try the concealer sponge. I'm trying to stay away from makeup this month while I recover from Christmas and it's hard with all these new releases. I really wish L'Orea would come out with a hydrating mask. They released all the clay masks and I like those, but I'd love to see a hydrating one in the line up. I love my Garnier Micellar water and I think I may try one of these when I'm done with it. I thought the same thing about the Total Cover foundation. I had to use a white mixer to make it work and aint nobody got time for that every morning. I can't stand when my inbox gets out of control and I don't even get that many emails, you go girl!!
