This Or That: Pure Cosmetics Nude Palette VS. UD Naked 2

Did you see my FabFitFun Fall Unboxing? Get caught up here. Inside was this Nude Collection palette from Pure CosmeticsAs I was checking it out in the video, I noticed that it reminded me of another palette, Urban Decay's Naked 2. See what I mean?

Look at those colors! They look so similar! I immediately decided to do a This or That to compare them, and several of you requested this as well. I'm not going to call this a Dupe or Not since they are too similar in price.

Pure Cosmetics Nude Collection
-$50
-Cruelty-free, talc-free, paraben-free
-comes with brush

UD Naked 2
-$54
-Cruelty-free, paraben-free
-comes with brush

And then I decided to do swatches:

I try to drag my swatches so you can see how far the pigmentation goes/see how they would blend. Most of the shades are definitely similar when swatched and there are a couple that are dupes.

Pigmentation:
-Pure Cosmetics wins with this. Most of the shades were way more pigmented than UD.

Fall Out:
-UD had more fall out (that means shadow falls out when you swatch or apply to skin) than PC. Fall out doesn't bother me, but it could be an issue for others.

Staying Power:
-This was a toss up, since sometimes I would feel like UD was better.

Packaging:
-UD has sturdier packaging with it's metal-like feel. PC feels cheaper and feel like plastic, like it's going to break in the middle, but still works.

Overall:
-I've said in the past I don't care for the UD shadow formula (not as pigmented for matte and too chunky for shimmer), but I do like the color selection a bit better than PC. PC shadows felt like they were better quality, but didn't always last as long. But if you're going to spend that much on a shadow palette, I say go for Pure Cosmetics, since it's made with better ingredients.

Have you heard of Pure Cosmetics?

Extra Elle:
-Lots of catching up to do this week with blogs, so if you don't hear from me by tomorrow, let me know!
-Thanks to everyone who has commented on my posts this week, like yesterday's, for example!

  1. In the first image of the colours in the pans they look so similar! I do like the formula of UD shadows but I do prefer Makeup Geek.

  2. This is so good to know. Since they are similar in price point I would be stumped on which to get. I really need to pick up the UD pallet soon. It's been on my must buy list for a while now. Thanks for this!

  3. I wore my PC from my box recently and I am still uncertain about how I feel about it. I almost feel there was too much shimmer for me but I'm going to try again! Thanks for the comparison.

  4. I was so excited to get this palette in my box but haven't had a chance to try it yet. I love that it is so pigmented. Thank you for the comparison!

  5. So no joke, I had to enlarge the first picture to see the names because I totally thought it was a reflection! They are SO almost identical!! I have never tried Pure Cosmetics, but I love all these colors in the palette and love that they are talc-free! I'm definitely going to have to check them out! Have a great weekend, Elle!

  8. Wow, that's crazy how similar they are!

  9. They do look very similar in pan side by side I almost couldn't tell the difference. I love Urban Decay but if Pur cosmetics has better pigmentation I would go for that then. Eyeshadows usually last really long for me anyways because of my dry eyes.

  13. This is a great comparison! I agree with you that UD doesn't have the GREATEST pigmentation compared to other brands. I have never heard of Pure Cosmetics before.

  14. This is the first time I'm reading about this brand but wow, the shades are really similar to UD Naked 2. The palette side by side comparison picture, I thought they were reflections.

  15. Those palettes really are so similar, and both are so pretty! I love my UD palettes, but I might have to look at Pure Cosmetics next time!

  16. The Urban Decay ones look prettier in the swatches, but I've heard from a lot of people that the UD shadow pigmentation isn't great. Great review!

  17. These two palettes do look incredibly similar. Thanks for the comparison review!

  18. Wow! They look incredibly similar! I love the metallics in both palettes. This review is great if you want to invest in a quality palette!

  19. It is crazy how similar the colors are! I have the UD palette so I obviously am not going to go out and get the other since they are similar. I feel like UD has pretty good staying power on me but there are other brands I like better in general. Like Too Faced. You cannot show me a Too Faced palette that I don't fall in love with!

  25. I love the colors in my Naked2, but I don't find myself reaching for it much anymore. I haven't heard of Pure Cosmetics before I saw your video.

  26. I've never heard I that brand before! Awesome that the pigmentation is better than UD though, and they definitely look identical!

  27. So I'm surprised that UD didn't get the win..! Although I do have that UD palette and I do quite love it. Though I've temporarily switched to a much smaller Shu Uemura palette which I'm loving at the moment...

  28. I actually have never seen the Pure Cosmetics one before! Ill have to look for it since I love UD and they are more pigmented and have better ingredients! Def a win!

  29. WOW! Those palettes are almost identical! I'm going to have to look into this palette just so I can see what I think of the quality of these because I generally love UD eyeshadows, but if there is something better, I wanna try it!

  30. I love that PC has better ingredients for such a similar product!

  31. hmmm very similar indeed. fall out doesn't bother me either. if the ingredients are better in PC, i might try that. i have been meaning to buy something like the naked 2 for like, 2 years now. haha. i got the naked 3 (i think?) for christmas a couple years ago and have barely made a dent in it, though i do like it!

  32. Wow, they are really similar! I have heard of Pure but haven't tried them. I like the idea of better ingredients in my makeup.
