10 Beauty Questions (That I'm Never Asked)

A favorite treat of mine is to get a bunch a magazines, some good coffee, maybe put on a face or hair masque, and read away, preferably on a weekend morning. I got a chance to do that this weekend, and while reading Glamour Magazine, I noticed these questions in the editor's letter, about her own beauty awards.

I get asked often for my beauty faves or for beauty tips, but not these questions that follow. I thought this was fun to answer and that you might like to answer them too. Here are 10 beauty questions that I'm never asked:

Most unexpected place to collect beauty ideas:

-Everywhere. It might be a color, a memory of a scent, the solving of a beauty issue, or the desire to make a less expensive version of a beauty product that will give me inspiration

Product I recommend to everyone:

-Lip balm--I have over 20 uses for it Here

Product I wish I'd started using earlier:

-Sunscreen--I miss those pretty tans I used to get every summer, but I'd take them all back now

Products I splurge on:

-Eyeshadow palettes, foundation, skin care

Products I save on:

-Mascara, lip liner

Trend I'm mesmerized by:

-The Instagram Brow or the Instagram Look in general. You know-- that fake-looking painted on brow. When I went to the Makeup Show, which is usually for professionals but this time was opened to the public, I was struck at how everyone looked the same with that crazy Instagram Brow. Some things look better on camera and not in real life.

Best Hair:

-Blake Lively, Kate Beckinsale

Beauty free beauty boost:

-Sleep!

New fave beauty icons:

-Emily Ratajkowski--she isn't afraid to call out the double standards there are towards women, especially the shame towards women for loving their bodies...wish I had her confidence at her age and now!

Best beauty tools:

-eyelash curler makes an instant impact and oval makeup brushes are one of my fave beauty tools from the past year...love how they apply makeup

Tell me your answers!
I tag you!

  2. What's the Instagram brow? Is it that really dark thick brow I've seen on women lately? I googled it and it talks about a brow fade but I guess I haven't noticed any fading . . . clearly I'm so trendy! Ha!

  6. What a fun tag. I will for sure be doing this on my blog as well. I also don't spend a lot of money on mascara. I actually haven't brought a new one since April. I just have been using the sample size on I get in my Ipsy bag.

  20. OMG, don't get me started on the Instagram and Youtube brows, they look atrocious in real life! And yes, I too save on mascaras and lip liners and spend my money on high end eyeshadows. Recently I did another makeup purge and actually threw away all my drugstore foundations, the older I get, the pickier I get with my stuff.

  25. What fun questions! I need to try the oval makeup brushes. Blake Lively does have amazing hair. So not fair. I splurge on eye shadow, foundation and skin care as well.

  26. This was such a fun post to read and that is my philosophy as well, sleep seriously is the answer to everything!

  27. Loved the answers! I completely agree on sleeping :) my normal thing :) due to anaemia. And the brow thing, yes I totally agree. I never do anything, I like my brows the way they are, thankfully, so for me it' strange when I see the very fake eyebrow design. But I have a friend that due to a cultural reason plucked hers in a bad way, so for her I think the Instagram brows could work. Loved the post!
Hope you have a nice week!

  28. This is so fun! I completely agree about the instagram brows and things looking better on camera vs. real life. Overall, I don't think people realize sometimes just how much makeup girls are wearing for the camera when filming youtube videos or posting instagram pics, and if you compare it to how they look in real life it looks really caked on.

  29. I know exactly what you mean with the Insta Brow! Looks so crazy in real life, yet so fab on camera. Xx

  36. Yup! I wish I had been more diligent with sunscreen when I was younger... And sleep is sooo good for soo many things! That's a good call, actually, I prolly could get away with cheaper mascara...

  38. YES to the Instagram brow! Goodness it's gotten out of control! I've seen a few in person and it's just hideous...I mean HIDEOUS! The whole Instagram look is just TOO damn much, nowadays. They are overly edited pictures, makeup looks that are just TOO much, and crazy wings! Why?!?

  40. Totally agree about the Instagram brow! I guess most of the heavy makeup trends are like that -- look great in photos and out of control in person!

  41. I love to do the same thing on the weekends. I love when they publish their beauty winners. I splurge on foundation and skin care too. Essence lip liners are my favorite and they're $1.49. I don't see a reason to spend a lot of money on lip liners. I love watching the Instagram brow videos, but they aren't for me. I am intrigued though! You made me pick my lash curler up again and now it's my favorite thing. I can't be without it!

  42. Preach about the instagram brow! Yikes, right? I love that Sephora closest to me is full of employees that think that's what actual brows are supposed to look like. haha Noooo I'll take my brows with some hair, please. (;
