Trash or Stash: Brush & Beauty Blender Cleansers

If I had a bajillion dollars, I'd have someone clean my makeup brushes. It's one of those things I can't stand doing, but I'm always glad when it's over. But until that money happens, I'll keep testing out different brush cleaners to see what works the best. I've got 3 that I tested out, $9 and under. So should I trash them or keep them in my stash? Let's find out:

First up, Essential Tools Makeup Cleaner

  • $5.92
  • Walmart
  • 4 oz
  • Consistency: clear shampoo
  • Fragrance: very slight, like shampoo--I didn't mind it
  • Cleaning Ability
    • Powder Products--yes
    • Liquid--yes
    • Cream--it took a while
  • Would I repurchase: If in a pinch, which actually is the reason I bought it
Daiso Detergent for Puff and Sponge

  • $2+
  • 80 ml
  • Daiso stores (CA), Amazon, Ebay (I strongly suggest Ebay)
  • Consistency: liquid
  • Fragrance: no
  • Cleaning Ability:
    • I tested this with beauty blenders and it was AMAZING. Normally I use solid cleansers, but this did an even better job. Really impressed.
  • Would I repurchase: YES
  • $9
  • Online, Walmart, ULTA
  • 5.1 0z
  • Consistency: Very thick gel
  • Fragrance: Very slight
  • Cleaning Ability:
    • Powder: yes
    • Liquid: did ok
    • Cream: not that great
  • Would I repurchase: no
Overall:
  • It should be noted that the RT and ET are made by the same company, with virtually the same ingredients.  I don't think I would repurchase either (trash) but the Daiso is a must-have for me (stash).
What's your favorite brush cleaner?

Extra Elle:
  • Speaking of cleaning (ugh) one of the perks?? of being my friend is that I can do pore extractions on you. This was my wild Thursday night, y'all. Completely gross (yet fascinating).

  5. I tend to rely on at home cleansers. Though the Daiso is cost effective so worth it to have on hand.

  32. Oh, I understand you! Just yesterday I bought a tool, not a cleanser though, to clean my brushes. It is like a glove that makes work easier, but like you said, I would rather pay someone to do that :)

  35. I secretly love watching things come out of pores.... yes, yes, it's gross, but honestly I'd love to see a how-to post on that! I've been allergic to every brush cleanser I've tried. Baby shampoo seems to work the best for me and I always have it on had. (;
