How To: Coconut Lime Sugar Scrub

"Put the lime in the coconut"--are you singing it? Today's post was supposed to be a video and a huge post, but I had some upsetting news (everyone's fine, I'm just disappointed). I hate to be negative/sad on here, but I'm just keeping it real. So to cheer myself up, I thought of my favorite place: the beach. I'm not near a beach, so I decided to recreate it a little, with a bath to help me relax, some festive music, a candle, and this scrub, which smells just as amazing as you think it would. This exfoliating and moisturizing scrub definitely made me feel a little better. Enjoy!

N e e d:
2 c sugar
2 tbs coconut oil
1 tbs lime juice (use lime essential oil if storing scrub)
3 tsp almond oil
3 drops blue soap colorant--optional
6 drops yellow soap colorant--optional

D o:
Thoroughly mix ingredients together, with a fork or mixer. The coconut oil can be quite messy. Use immediately or store in an air-tight jar.
Scrub on your body and rinse away. You'll be left with very moisturized skin that smells nice.

T r y:
  • I used fresh lime juice because I had it, but essential oil works well. If you're going to store this, I would use the lime essential oil instead.
  • I used refined sugar, but raw sugar or even salt, give better exfoliation for the body.
  • If you aren't a fan of coconut oil, use slightly less than a cup of almond oil (or carrier oil of your choice). You can also add coconut extract or essential oil for scent.
  • Don't use food coloring as it will stain. Please be careful when exiting the tub.
  • Always use sunscreen!

  6. I'm sorry things aren't the best for you right now.

I only live 15 minutes or so from the beach so feel free to come visit anytime :)

I love this and I make something similar, but mines usually just sugar and coconut oil so I may have to try adding the almond oil and lime juice.

    Best!
