Beauty DIY: Rosemary Mint Bath Salts

Hey you! The weekend is here! What are your plans? My plans? Always up in the air. I had an impromptu party Monday for the football championship (as in my friends texted and said they were coming over and cooking, yay! Awesome free food!), so that was my big event of the week. Since I'm working an extra day this week, I'm looking forward to relaxing and taking a nice, long bath with my DIY bath salts. I actually found rosemary growing wild in one of the parks at my apartment and have been using it for all sorts of beauty DIY/food recipes. You can buy bath salts but my version is way cheaper. You know what? You need some relaxing too. Yes, you do--it's been a long week. Let's whip up some Rosemary Mint Bath Salts and relax. Ahhhh! Here's how:

I N G R E D I E N T S
2 c Epsom salt
1/2 c baking soda
10 drops rosemary essential oil OR 1 tbsp dried rosemary
10 drops mint essential oil
5 drops of soap colorant (optional)

M E T H O D

  • Mix the dry ingredients.
  • Add the oils and mix together until well blended.
  • Store in an air-tight container and allow the oils to marinate with the salts at least a day or two.
  • If using colorant, mix with the salt and allow to dry before proceeding with the rest of the DIY.
  • If using dried herbs, mix into the salt mixture or grind the herbs. I left mine as is. Feel free to remove them before pouring into the bath, but it's not necessary.
  • Add a handful or two to a bath and relax!

T I P S
  • As always, use with caution if skin sensitivities and check with your doctor if you've preexisting medical conditions.
  • Epsom salt is wonderful at easing aches and pains, as well as removing toxins from the body.
  • Baking soda helps soften skin.
  • Rosemary eases aches and pains too, and is full of antioxdiants.
  • Mint relaxes and helps with clogged sinuses and headaches.
  • Be sure to share the container before using.
  • No tub? Sprinkle the bath salts around the back of the shower and breathe in the rosemary mint scent!

Have a great weekend! Be safe, behave, and be well. Love, Elle

  4. This is awesome, Elle! It's so easy (which is key for me attempting a DIY) and I LOVE the smell of rosemary! Ed made rosemary garlic butter the other night when he cooked me dinner and I just wanted to smell the rosemary all day :) Awesome info - and yay for your friends coming over AND cooking. That's the way to do it!

  22. ROFL! Sorry, I will explain... I am a criminal defense attorney, so when I see the term "Bath Salts", I think of the nasty substance that some of my clients like to abuse. It was just made illegal here in NY, so I expect to be seeing the prosecutions coming soon.

But your recipe looks lovely. I occasionally give my poor feet a plain epsom salt soak, but perhaps I will whip up a batch of this to try soon.
