12 Months of Resolutions: February (& January Revisited)

So I came up with this crazy idea of doing a resolution a month, in the hopes that maybe I'd have a better chance of keeping them. Last month I focused on my blog. The resolution for February is to give up Diet Coke for a month! And that includes any soda of any kind. This is going to be a hard one, since I live in the world of Coca-Cola, and Coke displays are everywhere. There's a long-running joke that we refer to any soda as Coke (You got Coke? What kind? Dr. Pepper). While I don't drink it everyday, I drink enough of it that it could be considered an everyday drink. I'm hoping I can completely give it up. I'll still drink sweet tea and water. Since it's winter still, the water will also be great for hydrating my skin. I'll check back in with you March 1st!

My resolution for January was to focus on the blog. So how did I do? See my "report card" below! Strike-throughs mean COMPLETED!

GOALS:
  • New blog layout
  • New blog buttons
  • Change Header (coming soon)
  • Animated Elle Sees button thanks Artsy Ants!
  • New Twitter layout
  • Sponsorships
  • Respond to comments daily (I responded to every comment, it just wasn't daily.)
  • Find at least one new blog to read/possibly respond daily
  • Create a posting schedule
  • Write quality posts
  • Streamline amount of posts to 4-5x's a week
  • Do product reviews (so far I have 3 coming up!)
  • Create enough blog ideas for 3 months in advance
  • Do monthly guest posts
  • Do monthly features on bloggers
  • Update blog pages (About, Featured In, etc)
  • 12 months of DIYs
  • Monthly entertainments/parties
  • Increase followers and comments While I agree that followers aren't everything (I'm bewildered by new blogs with lots of followers but there's no interaction) I was pleased to find my followers jump a notch.
GRADE: B-
WILL I CONTINUE THIS RESOLUTION IN THE FUTURE? Most certainly! I hope I never get to the point where I feel my blog is complete. I welcome any and all suggestions (and help!).

NOTES: I think I did pretty well this month. While my blog isn't at the complete level that I want, it's definitely an improvement that I hope everyone noticed! I appreciate the constructive criticism I've gotten. I really, really enjoy interacting with fellow bloggers and I love it when people take the time to leave a thoughtful comment. I can only hope I've done the same for you!

Do you have any resolutions? What are they?

  3. Good luck on giving up Diet Coke. Part of my resolution this year is to drink more water. It feels like such a chore though. I rarely buy soda, even diet soda, because if it's in the house, that's all I will drink. When I lived in SoCal, I swear I only drank Diet Pepsi, I'm not sure how I didn't die of dehydration lol.
Check out my cowl scarf give-away!

  5. You did well on getting things done for your blog. I think it's coming along great!

About your no-soda policy: I'm convinced you're doing yourself one of the biggest favors ever. We never have soda in the house, not because we don't like it (actually we LOVE Coke etc.) but because of how extremely unhealthy it is. They say especially the Diet stuff is like poison :(

  7. Screw soda... (but natural bubbly spring water, like pelligrino etc is good).. my savor actually....

Years ago.. coke wasn't so bad, but now it's artificial this, and that..diet is no better.. or worse? We never have soda.. only in moderation... and that might be a small coke from some fast food joint.. but I prefer... carbonated water..

  8. Oh man, I totally tackled this resolution 2ish years ago. It's tough to give up diet soda, but you'll feel so much healthier for it!

  9. Elle, you kicked butt in January! It's super exciting to see all those tasks crossed off your list. Way to go.

    Hope February is another winner.

  10. That's a great to do list, you've gotten so much of it done already. I think the best is when people leave helpful comments, and though having followers isn't everything, it does help get other people interested if they see many people follow you. (And it also opens the door for paid product reviews, which is always good.)

    Sorry about the rant.
    Happy Monday!
