This or That: Olay Microderm Abrasion Peel Vs. Boots No7 Peel Kits

You know what time it is! It's that time of the month week where I compare two similar beauty products, aka This or That. I've still got skin products on my mind (see yesterday's post) and these two are perfect for my dry skin (but just about anyone who wants smooth skin might like them). These peels resurface skin and help with the appearance of wrinkles. Best of all? They're just two steps. So for this week's This or That I'm comparing the Olay Microdermabrasion & Peel System Vs. Boots No7 Advanced Renewal Anti-Aging Glycolic Kit.

FYI: packaging now has red tops instead of black.

Olay Microdermabrasion & Peel System
  • This microdemabrasion and peel system resurfaces skin and improves circulation. This two-step system diminishes the appearance of wrinkles and visibly improves skin tone. Contains Alpha Hydroxy Acids. For best results use twice a week. Kit includes 8 weeks of treatments. --via site
  • First you apply the derma crystals and massage up to 1 min. The you add the activator, which warms up and foams, and massage for a min before rinsing away.
  • $28.99 (ULTA, drugstores, online)
Pros:
  • pleasant scent
  • made my skin really soft
  • easier to find than the Boots
Cons:
  • more "work" involved
  • it's less of a peel and more of a scrub
  • more expensive than Boots
Me, awkwardly trying to convey the softness of my skin in picture form.

  • Discover an instantly younger-looking, radiant you with this glycolic peel kit from Boots No7. It comes with gentle glycolic peel gel, soft neutralizing pads and an application brush. Gentle enough to use at home, this easy-to-use kit is designed to renew and recharge your complexion, revealing softer, smoother, brighter-looking skin. --via site
  • This comes with a small petri mixing dish and brush (pictured below). Place 4 pumps of the peel into the dish and then apply to face. Wait 5 minutes and then use a pad over the areas with the peel. Rinse away.
  • Good Housekeeping Award Winner
  • $24.99 (ULTA, Target, online)

Pros:
  • slightly cheaper than Olay
  • I personally think I get more uses out of this than the Olay
  • easier than Olay
Cons:
  • alcohol scent
  • doesn't list how many uses it has
  • the brush and dish aren't necessary
  • occasional tingle (sometimes it would slightly tingle and then sometimes nothing)
  • skin not as smooth as with Olay
Fancy facial brushin'

This or That:
  • While these are both peels, they are two different products. Olay uses lactic acid, some glycol, and crystals. Boots No7 uses glycolic and lactic acids.
  • While both made my skin softer, I really liked the Olay Microderm Abrasion & Peel much better. It really made my skin feel so soft!

  14. I'm actually not even sure where Boot's is sold so I'd have to go with the Olay purchase!! I was intrigued when I was at the store a few weeks back, but it's a pretty hefty price tag for a drug store purchase!! great review!
