12 Months of Resolutions: A Year In Review

Happy 2012! As the new year began, I joined the masses in reflecting upon the new year. And something I can look back fondly is my 12 Months of Resolutions series. Instead of making a mass of resolutions and completing none, I decided to do something different each month, in the hopes that the resolution would stick. Some months had excellent surprises, while a couple left me disappointed. While 12 Months of Resolutions didn't focus specifically on beauty or DIY, it did focus on my life, which I like to share with you. I hope you check them out and maybe you'll be inspired!
Edit: Some of the comments have mistaken these as this year's goals, so I wanted to make clear that these are from 2011, as this was a year in review. Click the link to read what the results were. Enjoy!

  • January: Focus on the Blog
  • February: Give Up Diet Coke
  • March: Stop Complaining
  • April: Restyle My Style
  • May: Clean Out
  • June: No Shopping
  • July: Stop Swearing
  • August: Give up Diet Coke, Part 2
  • September: Read Every Day
  • October: Say YES!
  • November: Be Super Thankful
  • December: No red meat, go meatless weekly, eat out once a week and blog every day of December (I'll post a review of December when I write about January's resolution)
Proudest Moments: Stopping Complaining & Thankfulness
Surprise Fail: Diet Coke--really thought I could kick it
Easiest: Stopping Swearing
Surprising Win: Reading Every Day

  8. Love this recap, Elle! Diet Coke is REALLY hard to drop! I finally was able to by substituting it with citrus/grapefruit perier water. I think it helped because it still gave me the carbonation! Happy New Year!

  32. To me, June would be the hardest month ever to keep the resolution. Cleaning out is what I need right now, though. It's cute that you have part I & II for giving diet coke up. cheers! xoxo

I don't think I could give up diet coke! So not surprised that was a fail.

  36. Elle this is super!I do monthly goals as well, but mine aren't as varied as yours. I repeat certain goals every couple of months, in attempts to build good habits (doesn't always work!) Can't wait to hear how you go with this! I'll be posting mine in the next week or so :)

  37. This is such a great idea! Are you going to do it again this year? I'm going to attempt to kick diet coke to the curb too, I did it a few years ago, but fell off the wagon while I was working at a high stress job and travelling a ton. My goal is to be off of it by March. It's so hard.
