12 Months of Resolutions: December (& November Revisited)

It's my last month of resolutions!! I cannot believe it. I'm currently debating whether to continue this series into next year, or if to just mix it into another post. What do you think? Regardless, I'll do a wrap up post next month, listing every resolution and such.

For November, I wanted to be UBER THANKFUL!
Grade: A
Notes: I feel weird sharing all of the things I did/said over the month. I don't want it to seem like I'm bragging or something--look what I DID! Look AT ME! Blah. That's not why I did it. Here are a few things I did:

  • I did a verbal and written list of something I was thankful for daily.
  • I forgave someone--and that was really hard to do. I think I'm still in progress there.
  • I donated clothes to Goodwill.
  • I helped collect coats for the Men's Home.
  • I helped with a canned food drive.
  • I helped knit hats for cancer patients.
  • I gave a stranger gas money.
  • I edited an unemployed friend's resume.
Would I do this again?
Certainly. We need to stop spending so much time complaining, and realize how lucky we are. Even in our darkest days, we are still so fortunate.
To wrap up the year, I chose something completely random for December: stop eating red meat for a month. This stemmed from having food poisoning so many times this year. I just cannot take being sick anymore.
I'm also going completely meatless once a week.
And I'm only eating out once a week (this one I have already failed!)

What's something good you've done for others lately?

  1. congrats girl!!!!

something good i did (actually last week): i gave my lunch leftovers (which i was taking home, cause it was so yummy and tasty) to a homeless man in a street light :)

my list resolution for 2012? not ready ;/

  2. Ah, I am so proud of you, Elle! You definitely get an A in my book for these accomplishments! :)

  3. Wow, it seems you really have done so much good for others! You inspire me. I am a vegetarian and I can tell you that it is the best decision I ever made!

  4. I really loved reading about your monthly resolutions, I think it's a great thing to do, really makes you focus every month instead of just on January 1st

  5. That is so awesome you are an inspiration! My resolution for next year is to be kinder to MYSELF. I'm mine own worst enemy and I need to get better at that.

  6. My resolution is to train more seriously for my race in February. And start for a half marathon after that.

How are you enjoying going meatless? We love it. We've been almost 100% vegetarian for a few months now.

  7. Nice work!!! You don't sound like you are bragging...in fact, I think it's inspirational for others to see what you did! I love that you gave a stranger gas money.

  8. Well done! Hm, I haven´t decided what my goals for next year are yet, have to think about it for a while. :-)

  9. This is such a great list! And good luck with the no red meat - I went vegetarian two years ago (I try to be mostly vegan but I still cave for eggs and cheese sometimes) and it was one of the best things I've ever done for myself.

    xoxo ~ Courtney

  10. This post is such an inspiration. You should be so proud of what you've accomplished last month.

  11. I admire your resolutions. Yes, we should be more aware and grateful. Also, cutting back on meat-consumption is good for our health.

  12. i love all your posts!!! just continue posting more interesting stuff dear!!!
i have so many new year resolutions i don't know where and how to start!
    btw happy holidays :)
    xoxo, Haus of Gala

  14. Congrats lady! Sometimes it's hard to take a minute from our busy lives and give to others who actually need it. well done!

  15. this is an awesome project -- how inspiring!!

  16. Awesome list -- you did great! Maybe I should try this in 2012!

  17. I like the idea of 'publishing' you resolutions. It makes them more real!

  18. I think it's a great series to continue - nice concept & it makes you more accountable to the resolutions if you have them 'out there' :)

  19. Wow, sounds like you had an awesome month! I know I need to slow down a little more and stop taking it all for granted. Thank you for this post! And I too have thought about limiting my eating out to only once a week...If you figure out how to do it, let me know! :)

  24. Love your accomplishments in November! And your goals for December!

  25. What a great idea! You have done so much good, you should be thoroughly proud of yourself!

  26. i love that you did a verbal and written list of something you were thankful for daily. i enjoy writing my blessings (or gifts, as i like to call them) down too, but i haven't lately so i need to get back on that!(:

and i completly agree that even on the bad days, there's always something to be thankful for!

  27. i love this idea to have a big resolution for each month, what a great idea!
i have been thinking hard about my resolutions for next year and i wanna try and focus on way i can help others in my resolutions instead of just ways i can help myself.

btw i checked out your christmas wishlist and i totally asked for a clarisonic mia face srubber, also. and i'm really really hoping i get it.

  28. Oh, wow, that's awesome! I love this idea of a resolution for each month!

  38. It is so important to always be thankful for everything that you have. Even when things don't seem to be going so well, there are always more positives than negatives. :)

  39. I never go back to review my resolutions hence the reason why nothing gets resolved. I should try this next year.

  42. You did so well dear, oh my! Yes, it is also great to just be give thanks, inspire with no complaining, life's too short. Have a very happy holiday to you.

  43. I think you should continue this series. Such a great way to set little goals throughout the year and stay motivated. I definitely need to impose a rule about eating out once a week on myself.

  44. oh wow, what a neat way to do this. This is the first I've seen of your installation- I really like it. Always love being grateful and nice of you to try no red meat!

  45. oh Elle - first off I'm so sorry you've had food poisoning so many times. I used to have the same problem. I try and stay away from weird meats and too many cheeses. I will only eat meat from a cow and a chicken.

And thank you for reminding us of what's important. I gotta remember to do a random nice act more often.

Cheers sweetie! have a lovely christmas!
