I'm a huge movie fan--and weekly I'll be posting some favs of mine. Since it's spring, first up is Sofia Coppola's Virgin Suicides (1999).
Based on the book by Jeffery Eugenides, it follows a group of guys as they reflect on their fascination with the five Lisbon sisters in the 70s. Narrated by Giovanni Ribisi (fun fact), they look back and try to solve the mystery of what happened to the sisters, starting with the death of Claire.
I love the sleepy, dreaminess of this film. I love the colors, the style, the cinematography (I'm a sucker for this in Sofia's films), the story, and the fascination with the beautiful blonde girls. You might find this a little slow, but I like that aspect of it. You will probably find this inspirational, style-wise, as I did:
