Outfit of the Week: Blue on Black


There are two things I thought I'd never do: wear silk (not since the 90s) and wear navy & black together. But 2011 is all about taking risks, right? And so this outfit was born.

  • Normally, I'd wear this silk blouse under a jacket/blazer but decided to let it be front and center.
  • Black skinnies (but black pants would be an excellent choice for work)
  • A chunky, chandelier necklace or two
  • A soft pink lipstick
  • Navy smokey eye (here's a great tutorial)
Would you wear blue and black?

    Honestly, I wouldn't just "decide" to do it. LOL
    BUT if it's style and others are doing it, and I could pull it off like the above outfit (love it) then, YEA I WOULD!

    I do navy/black since time immemorial. I have blue eyes with a black line around them so it always flattered me, but I always felt super awkward doing it too since these colours are *supposed* to clash.

    I love the idea of pairing this with a basic nude lip or a pale pink shade, it's a good way to not be overpowered by the outfit.

    These days I try hard not to give my opinion on things because I know that one day I will be hypocrite. For example: I always use to say don't wear black and blue together because you'll look like a bruise, and now of course I love it!

    yup, i would. i think. and i wear silk from time to time. it is funny how you change your mind about things eventually. weird! but i am still not ready for denim on denim! lol

    I dont know if I would combine black and blue, not really my color choice, but I do looovvveee silk shirt!!! Especially white ones, I know i'm weird, I tend to go more on basic stuff :-)
